Manchester City has been dealt with a distressing new setback in the middle of an exciting Premier League campaign to secure the championship.

The team managed by Pep Guardiola is still the top contender to win their fourth consecutive first division title and a sixth in the last seven years. They are currently positioned second, trailing leaders Arsenal by just one point. However, they have a crucial game in hand that could turn things around in their favor.

On Sunday, City achieved a remarkable and contentious victory over Tottenham in the north London derby, followed by a 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest who are currently fighting against relegation. Erling Haaland made a comeback from injury and scored during the match as a substitute at the City Ground, along with Josko Gvardiol's earlier goal during the first half.

Guardiola's got some new concerns when it comes to his best goalie Ederson's fitness. Plus, two additional important players were absent during the victory against Forest.

Check out our most recent information on Man City's injuries and anticipated return dates.

During a rough collision with Forest's Willy Boly in the first half, the Brazilian player seemed to have injured his shoulder, which caused him great discomfort. He was given medical attention and had to be substituted by his backup, Stefan Ortega, during half-time.

"We cannot be optimistic. We will have to meet with the doctor tomorrow," stated the City manager.

Ederson has only played in four games since he recovered from a thigh injury that he got in an exciting game against Liverpool, where both teams drew 1-1. This injury caused him to sit out for a month. Sunday's game was one of those four appearances.

During his time away, Ortega will resume his position as the starting player, with veteran Scott Carson serving as the third-choice backup.

We do not know when the return date will be yet, as it is still subject to further evaluation.

There was a new problem for Manchester City as during their victory over Nottingham Forest, Ederson had to leave the game at halftime.

Prior to Ederson's most recent injury and the highly anticipated return of Haaland, the most significant team news to come out of Forest from City's viewpoint was the absence of Foden.

The player from England has been the top performer for the champions this season, managing to score 24 goals and provide 10 assists in a total of 48 games across all tournaments.

Foden did go on the journey to Forest at first, but he was later told to return since he hadn't recuperated from his sickness in time to participate in the team roster.

According to Guardiola, he's not prepared to play. He's sick and feeling unwell today, so he's gone back to Manchester.

"What we're dealing with here is a lengthy season, and these types of situations are bound to occur. However, we can look forward to the next player stepping up to the plate."

Since City is not participating in the semi-final round of the Champions League, Foden has a complete week to recuperate. Afterward, Guardiola's team will get back into action by playing against Wolves at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Possible comeback date: Saturday May 4, against Wolves.

There were multiple instances of Manchester City players being unable to attend the game against Forest due to illness. Along with Foden, the Portuguese centre-back Dias was also completely ruled out of the game.

He was not included in the starting lineup and remained on the bench during the victorious match in Brighton. However, he is likely to be considered for the upcoming game against Wolves, alongside Foden.

Possible comeback day: Saturday, May 4th, against the Wolverhampton team.
