It has been reported that nervous Members of Parliament from all factions of the Conservative Party have had discussions about appointing Ms. Mordaunt as prime minister. This comes as the party continues to struggle in the polls, with a lowly 24% approval rating.

In an effort to gain more support, the Conservative party plans to appoint their sixth prime minister since the 2010 general election, which would be the third instance where they didn't hold an election. This plan appears to be a last-ditch effort to hold on to power.

However, a supporter of Ms Mordaunt, who is the leader of the House of Commons, asserted that there was no scheme to establish her as the Conservative Party's leader and dismissed the proposals as unfounded rumors.

At the same time, Tory ex-minister Dame Andrea Jenkyns expressed her support for appointing a new leader ahead of the upcoming election. Nevertheless, she rejected the notion that Conservative MPs with right-wing views would rally together in support of Ms. Mordaunt.

The notion was discredited by Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg, an ex-business minister, who deemed it to be "insanity."

The Secretary of Transportation, Mark Harper, stated on Sky News that Mr. Sunak will lead us to the election. He emphasized that the government's strategy is effective, and he believes that we will surely triumph.

He stated that he will provide continuous support to him and expressed his belief that his co-workers will also assist him throughout the journey.

According to Mr. Harper, the rumors regarding a possible surprise election in May were completely unfounded and ridiculous.

Jonathan Ashworth, the shadow paymaster general of the Labour Party, has claimed that the current state of the Conservative Party is in a state of confusion. A number of MPs have been reportedly discussing whether or not Prime Minister Rishi Sunak can remain in his position for much longer.

During an interview with Sky News, he expressed that it is no longer beneficial for the nation. He believes that such behavior is reckless and the country requires a stable environment.

"He has the option to bring stability by announcing a specific date for a general election. If not, there is a possibility that the Conservative party may conduct a leadership election before holding a general election."

The Conservative party members who lean towards the right are worried about not being re-elected. The Daily Mail and the Daily Telegraph reported that these MPs had talks with the moderate members of their party about supporting Ms. Mordaunt if the prime minister is challenged with a no-confidence vote.

The prime minister will face more stress and demands after 2 May when the Conservative party may lose a significant number of seats in various regional councils nationwide.

Mr Sunak had a tough week as he faced criticism for his handling of racist remarks allegedly made by a major political contributor. Additionally, Lee Anderson, who Mr Sunak had elevated to Tory deputy chairman, switched over to the populist Reform UK party, causing further disarray.

Despite being a potential candidate in the Conservative Party's leadership contest scheduled for 2022, Ms Mordaunt has remained tight-lipped on the allegations. However, her supporters have claimed that her primary focus at present is on fulfilling her duties as a minister.

"I find it fascinating that many media outlets are reporting that Conservative MPs with centre-right views are endorsing a specific candidate to take over from Rishi," Ms Jenkyns tweeted.

After conversing with many of my coworkers, none of them appear to be aware of or advocating for this concept!

There was a lot of talk in Westminster recently concerning Mr Sunak's stance, especially since the Budget proposed by Jeremy Hunt did nothing to improve the Tory's poor polling numbers. On top of that, No 10 had a hard time handling the aftermath of Frank Hester's comments regarding MP Diane Abbott. Mr Sunak took almost a whole day to condemn the remarks as "racist" and even then, he still refused to give back the £10 million donated to the Tory party by the businessman.

Rishi Sunak is preparing himself for the upcoming local elections in May, which he anticipates will be very challenging.

According to a source from the Prime Minister's office, Boris Johnson is fully committed to his agenda of creating a better future for the people of the United Kingdom.

The strategy seems to be effective as we observe a decrease in inflation and mortgages, along with an increase in wages. Furthermore, the economy is expected to progress and the boat numbers have gone down by one-third. Nevertheless, there is still room for improvement, and the Prime Minister is currently focusing on that. Conversely, Sir Keir Starmer does not have a plan and would push us back to where we began.

Mr. Sunak's team was anxious as he decided against holding a general election on May 2, which was previously suggested. He instead plans to wait until the latter half of 2024. This decision created a lot of excitement within his group.

An increasing number of Tory Members of Parliament have reported their departure from the legislative body. Among the latest individuals to join the list are James Heappey, the Minister of Armed Forces, Sir Brandon Lewis, a former chairman of the party, and previous Prime Minister Theresa May.

Over 60 members of the Conservative party have indicated they will not participate in the upcoming elections. This has led Sir Ed Davey to suggest that the reason for their withdrawal is that they fear defeat by the Liberal Democrats in those areas.

Before his party's spring conference in York, the leader of the Liberal Democrats spoke to the PA news agency and shared that he's feeling positive about winning over Conservative constituencies. He wants to focus on the south west of England and the entire blue wall where the battle will be between Liberal Democrats and Conservatives.

The feedback we're receiving is exceptional. People who have always supported the Conservative Party are now switching their allegiance to the Liberal Democrats. This makes us extremely confident that we can defeat a large number of Conservative Members of Parliament whenever the election is held," he stated.
