Paul Teal, known for his role in One Tree Hill, has passed away at the age of 35.

Teal portrayed the character Josh Avery, a movie star, in the seventh season of the popular drama series that has been on air for many years.

His partner, Emilia Torello, shared the news of his passing in an Instagram post.

"Torello expressed, 'A truly caring, motivating, dedicated, self-controlled, and affectionate man left us on Friday, November 15, 2024.'"

"Paul, you were my greatest companion, my fiancé, my support system, and my hope for the future. You brought joy to my life, excitement to my days, and a deep love to my heart. Your time was cut short in a struggle you faced with unwavering courage."

"Though a piece of me vanished when you left, I vow to strive to embrace joy in life with the same determination you showed in your daily struggle to survive."

"We are truly fortunate to have had even a brief time with Paul Teal, and I feel incredibly lucky to have called you my own. My love for you will last a lifetime."

Teal’s former co-star from One Tree Hill, Bethany Joy Lenz, shared her condolences on social media. In her Instagram post, she expressed, “I’m feeling so sad. Paul Teal had a natural ability to brighten any space he entered. His radiant smile, joyful laughter, and warmhearted nature made everyone want to be around him.”

Teal was born in 1989 and spent her childhood in Wilmington, North Carolina.

One Tree Hill was shot in the same city, but he didn't get a role in the series until after he relocated to New York to chase acting prospects. “I suppose saying you're a New York actor sounds much more impressive,” Teal shared with the local publication Star News Online.

He began his acting career when he was just 12 years old, performing in the chorus of stage plays with the Opera House Theatre Company. Eventually, he secured more prominent parts in popular productions such as The Producers, West Side Story, and Grey Gardens.

He initially collaborated with Lenz on a stage adaptation of The Notebook back in 2006. Lenz recalled, “He was reserved yet hilarious, and he appeared completely at ease on stage. It was impressive—like performing was as natural to him as breathing. You just couldn't look away from him.”

In 2009, Lenz directed an episode of One Tree Hill featuring Teal. “I was thrilled to be directing an episode of One Tree Hill and introducing a new recurring character, Josh - the not-so-great movie star,” she shared. “Paul was an ideal choice for the role with his down-to-earth humor and eagerness to fully embrace any character. Working with him was a delight in any setting, and he was incredibly generous.”

Teal has also been involved in various films and TV shows, featuring in titles such as The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Fear Street, Outer Banks, and Deep Water.
