Paul Pogba vows to 'fight injustice' of doping ban and 'get back on the pitch'

Paul Pogba, the midfielder for Juventus, believes that his four-year ban for doping is unfair. He is determined to return to playing on the field, even though some think he might give up the sport altogether.

Paul Pogba, who used to play for France, has been out of action since August 2023. The 31-year-old is currently waiting for a Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) hearing that could potentially shorten his suspension to two years.

"Pogba still has more to give," stated the ex-Manchester United player in an interview with Sky Italia, as reported by ESPN. "If you haven't seen me announce my retirement, then I am not finished playing yet, as I still have the passion for the game."

"I am determined to challenge this unfair situation for myself. Pogba is still here, and until you hear me admit that I am defeated, there's no need to be concerned. I am very eager to make a comeback."

Earlier this year, Pogba was banned from playing because his drug test results were positive. He was present at France's 1-0 victory against Belgium in the Euro 2024 round of 16 in Dusseldorf on Monday but is currently unable to compete for Juventus. Instead, he is receiving guidance from football and fitness trainers on an individual basis.

It was reported that the winner of the 2018 World Cup has been asked to attend a viewing of Didier Deschamps' team by the French Football Association and the coach, where they will celebrate the victory in the locker room afterwards.

"I feel like a young person trying to become a pro," he stated. "I practice, I give it my all to return to playing. The current update is that I am still a member of Juventus."

My contract goes until 2026, but I haven't been able to talk to the director and coach yet. It's been quiet. I believe they are waiting for the appeal decision, but you should ask them to be sure.

A video resurfaced showing Pogba mentioning that he was finished and done. Many believed it was recent, but it was actually from an interview in 2023.

"I am thrilled to witness and appreciate the support from the fans," Pogba expressed. "It has been some time since I last played, so it was truly heartening to hear the crowd chanting my name."

"I still feel like an athlete, I am practicing and right now I need to stay optimistic. I am dedicating a lot of time to my family, watching my children mature. Although I am not pursuing my passion for football at the moment, I am eagerly anticipating my return to the game."

Pogba's most recent appearance for the French national team was back in March 2022 during a friendly match. The French team, also known as Les Bleus, will be going up against Portugal in the quarter-finals in Hamburg this Friday at 8:00 PM (BST).
