Boxer Paul Bamba has passed away at the age of 35, as confirmed by his manager, Ne-Yo, on Friday.

The passing of the Puerto Rican fighter occurred just a few days after his most recent match, where he secured a win over Rogelio Medina, earning him the title of WBA Gold Cruiserweight champion.

American artist Ne-Yo, who signed Bamba as the inaugural artist for his new management firm in November, announced the news with a joint statement that included Bamba's family on Instagram.

"We are deeply saddened to share the news of the loss of our dear son, brother, friend, and boxing champion, Paul Bamba. His warmth and kindness impacted so many people," the statement said.

"He was a strong and self-assured competitor, fueled by a relentless desire for success. Above all, he was an incredible person who motivated countless others with his remarkable passion and perseverance," the statement added.

"We are deeply saddened by his loss and respectfully request space and compassion as we work through our shared sorrow during this tough period."

Bamba faced only three losses throughout his boxing journey and achieved victory in all 14 of his fights in 2024 by knockout. This includes his world title win over the Mexican boxer Medina on December 21 in New Jersey.

After the fight, Jake Paul, who received a challenge from Bamba, took to X to share: "Rest in peace, Paul Bamba."
