The Kansas City Chiefs have just won their second consecutive Super Bowl for the first time in almost 20 years by defeating the San Francisco 49ers with a score of 25-22 in Las Vegas.

Requiring either a field goal to extend the game or a touchdown to emerge victorious, Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs’ quarterback, led an exceptional drive that resulted in a touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman Jr., ultimately clinching the win for the team.

The 49ers were winning by three points during extra time when they decided to take a field goal, putting them ahead with a score of 22-19. However, they failed to prevent the opposition from making a game-changing play.

In the NFL, there have only been two occasions when a Super Bowl game has gone into overtime. The most recent one was also the first post-season match to be determined by the league's new overtime regulations.

Mahomes had a total of 333 yards from throwing and went on to score two touchdowns. He also had 66 running yards during the game. On the other hand, Brock Purdy, the quarterback for the 49ers, made 255 throwing yards and scored one touchdown.

At 28 years old, Mahomes has been granted the MVP Award for the third time ever. He is now one of only four starting quarterbacks who have won three Super Bowls throughout their career.

During the initial period, the sole points were scored by kicker Jake Moody, who made an impressive feat in the Super Bowl by successfully completing a 55-yard field goal.

During the second quarter of the game, Dre Greenlaw, a linebacker for the 49ers, experienced a tragic event when he sustained an Achilles injury while entering the field. Consequently, he was swiftly removed from the game.

Soon after, a unique strategy was utilized resulting in the initial touchdown of the match. Purdy threw the ball horizontally to Jauan Jennings who then passed it to Christian McCaffrey. Without any interference, McCaffrey sprinted towards the endzone and scored.

In the first half, the 49ers did not allow Travis Kelce to get many chances, as he only had one touch and gained one yard. Additionally, they were able to sack Mahomes twice. By halftime, the game stood at 10-3 in favor of the 49ers.

Usher was joined by Alicia Keys, Lil John, and Ludacris for the half-time show, while Taylor Swift watched from the audience along with other famous faces like Blake Lively, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and Jay Z.

When the game continued, the Chiefs' kicker, Harrison Butker, surpassed Moody's previous Super Bowl record by successfully hitting a 57-yard field goal. Later on, due to a mistake made by the opposing team resulting in a fumble, the Chiefs were presented with a significant opportunity to score their first touchdown.

In the third quarter towards the end of the game, Mahomes threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Marquez Valdes-Scantling, which helped the team take the lead for the first time.

On the other hand, the 49ers retaliated by having Purdy throw the ball to Jennings for a touchdown. Unfortunately, their attempt at a bonus point was obstructed. Therefore, with 11 minutes remaining, the 49ers were ahead by three points.

Butker scored a field goal to even out the game, but then Moody responded by giving the 49ers the lead with under two minutes left.

Nonetheless, Butker managed to end the regular time by scoring a field goal just before the six-second mark, resulting in a draw of 19-19.

The most recent squad to secure consecutive victories in the Super Bowl were the New England Patriots with Tom Brady at the helm in 2004 and 2005.
