A Pap test is an easy procedure that plays a key role in preventing cervical cancer. The Canadian Cancer Society advises anyone with a cervix who is sexually active to start getting regular Pap tests by the age of 21. It's important for patients to prioritize regular Pap tests and to attend follow-up appointments, as these tests can detect changes in cells before cancer starts, enabling prompt treatment.

After a Pap test, around 10% of individuals may receive an unusual result. Those who have abnormal findings will be contacted by a healthcare professional for a follow-up discussion about what to do next.

Please remember that you can schedule a Pap test at any time during the year. Just get in touch with your primary healthcare provider or call one of the provincial numbers available on the website below.
