Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs ‘vehemently denies’ rape and abuse allegations from Cassie
Hip hop icon and founder of a record label, Sean "Diddy" Combs, is strongly denying accusations made by his former girlfriend, the R&B singer Cassie, that he continuously physically abused, sexually enslaved and raped her.
Casandra Ventura, also referred to as Cassie, has taken legal action against Combs alleging that he utilized his influential connections to ensnare her in an abusive liaison with him.
According to a report by the New York Times, she claims that during the ten years they were together, Combs repeatedly attacked her by beating and raping her. She also states that he had complete control over her life and that she experienced constant abuse, violence, and was even subjected to sex trafficking. This continued until their relationship ended in 2018.
Benjamin Brafman, a well-known attorney from New York, who is representing Combs, who is currently 54 years old, has alleged that Cassie attempted to extort his client.
Brafman made a statement on Thursday, claiming that his client strongly disagrees with the offensive and shocking claims being made against them. According to Brafman, Ventura's decision to take legal action is unfounded and full of outrageous lies. He alleges that Ventura initially attempted to blackmail Combs by threatening to publish a harmful book about their relationship, demanding a sum of $30 million, and turned to a lawsuit when it didn't work.
Combs, renowned by his various stage names such as Puff Daddy, P Diddy, or Diddy, established the significant Bad Boy Records label and is a prominent hip-hop producer and executive. He also has a thriving career as a performer, and has created the popular Sean John clothing line.
At the same time, a legal representative for Ventura shared with the New York Times that someone offered her a massive amount of money to keep quiet and prevent her from suing, but she turned down the offer.
The lawsuit is quite alarming as it showcases a grim portrait of their relationship. Combs was able to manipulate and dominate her personal and business affairs, leading to years of brutal physical assaults, coerced sexual experiences, and a never-ending fear of possible violence.
According to the lawsuit, Combs relentlessly chased after Ventura, who joined Bad Boy when she was 19 years old and quickly rose to stardom. He invited himself to a party celebrating her 21st birthday and forcefully kissed her, using his authority and control to his advantage.
The lawsuit claims that Ventura was unable to reject Combs's advances or drug offers without risking her career because Combs is the founder of Bad Boy Records. He enticed her into a lavish lifestyle filled with drugs and fast-paced activities, as stated in the lawsuit.
The blog post mentions accusations that Combs had a problem with getting very angry and would regularly make Ventura participate in sexual activities with male sex workers, which he would record on video or photograph. Ventura was given drugs before and during these encounters, which allowed her to disconnect from the horror of the situation. According to the lawsuit, Ventura was forced to engage in sexual acts in many different cities, making her a victim of sex trafficking. The lawsuit also claims that Combs physically abused her in a severe manner.
In 2017, Forbes magazine declared him as the musician who earned the most money worldwide. He was estimated to earn around $130 million annually at that time.
