The female singer has accused famous rap artist Sean "Diddy" Combs of rape and sex trafficking.
According to a court case reported by the BBC, Casandra Ventura, the former girlfriend of the accused, alleged that she had been subjected to a decade of abusive and violent treatment and was unable to escape it.
Puff Daddy, who also goes by the stage name Combs, has refuted the accusations and has gone so far as to claim that the singer is attempting to extort money from him.

Ventura, popularly known as Cassie, a renowned R&B singer and dancer, has come forward with serious allegations against a rap producer. She claims that she was raped and physically abused for over a decade, starting when she was 19 years old, until she turned 37.

As per the complaint, Combs enlisted Ventura under his record label, Bad Boy, and allegedly subjected her to substance abuse by forcefully providing drugs and alcohol, leading her to fall into severe addiction that dominated her life.
The musician has been branded as a "serial domestic abuser" for physically assaulting Ventura on numerous occasions. He would frequently hit and kick her, causing injuries such as black eyes, bruises, and bleeding.
Ventura expressed that she is prepared to speak out about her own experiences and for the betterment of other women who encounter violence and abuse within their relationships.
According to a statement made to BBC News, Combs' attorney claimed that Ventura insisted on receiving a sum of $30 million (£24 million) citing a potential threat that she will author a book about their relationship, which is presumed to cause harm.

Ventura has decided to take Combs to court, claiming that the accusations made against him are not only baseless, but also shocking. These claims are intended to tarnish Combs' reputation and unjustifiably gain monetary compensation.
In reaction to Brafman's comments, Doug Wigdor, a lawyer from Ventura, stated that Combs was willing to pay a substantial amount of money to keep the matter quiet and prevent it from going to court. This sum was said to be in the range of eight figures.
"She declined his attempts and made the decision to speak up for all women who are silently going through difficult situations," he said.
According to her lawsuit, the music icon reportedly informed her about his intention to destroy a vehicle owned by rapper Kid Cudi as well.
Combs is alleged to have been jealous of Ventura's relationship with the rapper, according to the legal action.
