Victor Osimhen set for shock loan after Chelsea transfer stalls, Arsenal won’t sell Leandro Trossard – Paper Round - Eurosport

Osimhen

According to the Mirror, Victor Osimhen could soon make a surprising temporary move to Galatasaray as he seeks to depart from Napoli.

The football player, who is 25 years old, is said to be talking about joining a team in the Turkish Super Lig after not being able to find a move to another team during the summer. Chelsea was one of the clubs that was interested in him.

The Mirror reports that even though Chelsea and Saudi Pro League team Al-Ahli were interested in signing Osimhen on transfer deadline day, he ultimately stayed at Napoli when the window closed. The two teams could not agree on the player's salary, even though Osimhen made it clear he wanted to depart from southern Italy.

Chelsea had high hopes of securing a loan agreement that would eventually lead to a permanent transfer by the end of the 2024/25 season. However, Osimhen is still with Napoli, but has not played in any Serie A matches under coach Antonio Conte.

Arsenal Aims To Retain Trossard

According to the Guardian, Arsenal rejected a last-minute offer from Al-Ittihad to take Leandro Trossard on loan for the season. The Gunners have stated they are not interested in selling the Belgian striker.

The team from Saudi Arabia offered £4 million to borrow a player, with the condition that they must buy him permanently for approximately £25 million. However, Arsenal quickly turned down the offer.

According to The Guardian, the transfer deadline for Saudi Arabia's Pro League and several European leagues is on Monday. Al-Ittihad was hoping to bring in Trossard to add to their squad, along with Moussa Diaby who recently signed for €60m from Aston Villa.

Trossard played in the match against his old team Brighton on Saturday, after scoring the first goal in Arsenal's victory against Villa as a replacement player the week before. Although he didn't celebrate much after scoring, it was clear he was disappointed about being a substitute. Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal coach, spoke highly of Trossard's reaction.

Chris Smalling, a former player for Manchester United, will undergo a medical examination in Rome on Monday in preparation for a possible transfer to the Saudi Pro League team Al-Fayha. Other players such as Victor Osimhen and David Datro Fofana, who were not included in Napoli and Chelsea squads, respectively, may also be considering moves to Saudi Arabia.

West Ham Pursuing Free Agents

West Ham is actively searching for a new center-back in the pool of available free agents, according to the Standard.

The team is looking at possibly bringing in former Liverpool player Joel Matip, who is 33 years old. Talks about a potential agreement with him are likely to continue this week.

The Standard also reports that West Ham is considering 31-year-old John Egan, who departed Sheffield United recently.

"West Ham allowed Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd to go on loan recently, and the new manager Julen Lopetegui wants to strengthen the defense even more. This comes after the club signed Max Kilman for £40m and brought in Jean-Clair Todibo on loan, with the possibility of signing him permanently for £34.2m next year."

Matip departed from Liverpool after playing 201 games for the team over the course of eight years with Jurgen Klopp as the manager.
