One Direction share 'devastation' at death of Liam Payne
Liam Payne’s old bandmates from One Direction have expressed that they are "absolutely heartbroken" over the loss of their fellow member.
In a message from Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Harry Styles, they expressed, "Eventually, when everyone is ready, we'll have more to share."
According to the police, the pop star, who rose to prominence after participating in The X Factor in 2010, passed away after falling from the third story of a hotel in Argentina.
Payne's family expressed their deep sorrow, describing themselves as "heartbroken" as they honored the memory of a "compassionate, humorous, and courageous spirit" following his passing at the age of 31.
"We're doing our best to support one another as a family and kindly request some privacy and time for ourselves during this difficult period," they expressed.
Liam was one of the five people in One Direction.
The band expressed, "We need some time to mourn and come to terms with the loss of our beloved brother." They finished with, "We will deeply miss him. We love you, Liam."
Louis Tomlinson, a member of One Direction, posted a heartfelt message on his personal Instagram, expressing gratitude to Payne for being "the caring brother I had wished for my whole life."
He said, "Thinking back on all the incredible moments we shared is something I believed I would get to enjoy with you forever."
Zayn Malik, who departed from the group in 2015, expressed his feelings on Instagram with a throwback picture of himself and Payne asleep in a car. He wrote, "When you left, I felt as though I lost a brother. I can't put into words how much I would give for just one last hug."
According to police reports, Payne, who gained recognition from participating in The X Factor in 2010, passed away after he fell from the third story of a hotel in Palermo, Buenos Aires.
Officers examined the spot where he fell and discovered various items such as alcohol and a mobile phone.
There were also some medications discovered in his room.
In a statement, authorities revealed that Payne's body was found after an emergency team was summoned to the hotel. They noted that "all signs point to the fact that the musician was by himself at the time of the fall."
They mentioned that they think Payne passed away at the location and that there were no signs of injuries indicating the involvement of another person.
After his passing around 5 PM (9 PM BST) on Wednesday, celebrities voiced their sadness and shared fond memories of the father who had a son named Bear with his ex-partner, Cheryl from Girls Aloud.
Harry's mother, Anne Twist, honored him with a heartfelt message on Instagram, sharing a broken-hearted emoji and writing, "Just a boy."
Singer Rita Ora, who worked with Payne on a song back in 2018, expressed her heartbreak in an Instagram post, stating that she truly enjoyed collaborating with him.
On Thursday, authorities in Buenos Aires reported that an initial autopsy indicated the One Direction member passed away due to injuries causing both internal and external bleeding.
Officials reported that the location where Payne fell had been examined, revealing several items, including alcohol and a cellphone. Additionally, some medication was located in his room.
Olly Murs, who appeared on The X Factor a year before One Direction, expressed his sympathies on Instagram, mentioning that he was "at a loss for words" and referred to Payne's passing as "heartbreaking."
Murs mentioned that they always enjoyed their time together, often joking about how perfect his hair seemed and sharing their mutual admiration for David Beckham. They reminisced about their experiences on the old X Factor and the tour they did together.

"I recall when he was just 14 and showed up for an audition on The X Factor. He amazed us with his rendition of a Sinatra song. He had such a passion for singing," he wrote.
