Ryedale Special Families receives Omaze funds following house draw
A charity in Ryedale that supports children with disabilities has been given a donation of £25,000.
Ryedale Special Families (RSF), an organization that assists children and young people with disabilities and extra needs, was awarded funds by the entertainment firm Omaze after a local house raffle event.
The funds will assist the charity in getting its new center up and running.
Specifically, Omaze's contribution will be used to establish two sensory rooms, offering families the opportunity to use specialized equipment.
One of the new rooms will be created as a soothing and peaceful area, while the other will provide an energizing atmosphere.
Three therapy rooms will provide tailored support for individual children and young adults.
RSF began in 1997 with just 22 families, and according to a representative, it now assists over 400 families in the Ryedale area.
Nine trustees supervise its operations, seven of whom are local parents of children and young individuals with disabilities.
RSF employs six administrative staff, has 40 support personnel, and relies on a committed group of 65 volunteers.
The children and young individuals it assists face various challenges, including disabilities, complicated health issues, chronic illnesses, moderate learning difficulties, autism spectrum disorders, and a variety of emotional and behavioral challenges.
Omaze was brought to RSF's attention by Kevin Hollinrake, the Member of Parliament for Thirsk and Malton, who also serves as the Shadow Secretary of State for the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
