Former athletes and current members of the Endurance Performance Centre (EPC) at St Mary's University, Twickenham (SMU) have been chosen to participate in the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris.

Five athletes from EPC have been chosen to compete for the Great Britain team at the upcoming Olympics. Additionally, Adelle Tracey, a former student of EPC, has been selected to represent Jamaica in the women's 800m and 1500m events. Adelle achieved success in the World Athletics Championships in 2023 where she set new Jamaican national records in both events.

Former EPC student Revee Walcott-Nolan will be participating in the women's 1500m event, following her first appearance at the Olympics for Team GB in Tokyo last year. In 2021, Revee secured the title of women's 1500m champion at the British Championships. Also making his Olympic debut in Tokyo was Jake Wightman, who will be competing in the men's 800m event for Team GB. Jake, a former EPC student, has been training at SMU since 2017. He achieved Gold in 2022 to become the men's 1500m World Champion at the World Athletics Championships held in Eugene, USA.

At the upcoming marathon races, two former EPC students, Emile Cairess and Charlotte Purdue, will be representing Team GB. Former student from EPC, Beth Potter, will represent Team Great Britain in the women's triathlon at the Paris Olympics. She earned her spot by winning the World Championship in 2023.

Discussing these choices, EPC performance coach Craig Winrow expressed, "The entire EPC community is rooting for those who have been chosen to compete in the Olympics. It has been a long journey of dedication and effort for them to reach this point, and seeing EPC athletes at the Olympics will surely motivate our current students to believe that anything is achievable with big aspirations."

Leader of Sports at St. Mary's, Andrew Reid-Smith, said, "We are very pleased with all the EPC athletes, both past and present, who have been chosen to participate in the upcoming Olympics. St. Mary's has a strong history of participation in the Olympics and Paralympics, and we are excited to see what Paris has in store."
