Paul Rutter, the director for the East Coast route at Network Rail, expressed his gratitude to the public in anticipation of the important railway improvements planned for this October. He emphasized that once these upgrades are finished, passengers and freight services on the East Coast Main Line will experience smoother and more dependable journeys.
"Upgrading intricate equipment such as switches and crossings requires us to temporarily close certain parts of the railway and halt train services so that our engineers can complete their tasks swiftly and safely. I recommend that anyone planning to travel during the weekends should check National Rail Enquiries in advance, allowing extra time for their journeys and being ready for some parts of their trip to be made by coach."
A representative for all train companies stated, “We are collaborating closely with Network Rail to ensure that travelers can continue their journeys during the important railway improvements taking place over the weekends in October. We recommend that passengers check their travel arrangements in advance to understand any potential disruptions to their journeys. It’s also advisable to allow extra time for travel, as trains that are operating may be more crowded than usual, and there will be substitute coaches available to help passengers reach their destinations.”
Travelers using long-distance trains are being informed ahead of time about upcoming engineering work planned for the end of October and the start of November on the East Coast Main Line, specifically between York and Darlington.
This will involve the use of replacement buses on the weekends of October 26-27 and November 2-3.
Changes to train services from Doncaster to Peterborough on weekends in October.
