Slade’s Noddy Holder diagnosed with cancer five years ago, wife reveals
The lead singer of Slade, Noddy Holder, was found to have oesophageal cancer five years ago, according to his spouse's recent disclosure.
In an article in Cheshire Life magazine on Thursday, Suzan Holder shared that her husband had been given a prognosis of only six months to live by his doctors. However, at the age of 77, he has shown positive results from experimental chemotherapy and has faced his situation with remarkable strength and courage.
Suzan mentioned that it has been five years since they last saw him, and he is currently feeling well and appears to be in good physical condition.
From 1966 to 1992, Noddy Holder was the main singer and guitar player for the glam rock group known as Slade. They had great success with popular songs like Merry Xmas Everybody and Cum On Feel the Noize. When his time with Slade came to an end, Holder began working in television and radio. He even took on a comedic acting role for the ITV show The Grimleys, performing from 1999 to 2001.
According to his wife's statement, Holder was admitted to Christie hospital in Manchester, where he willingly committed to participate in an arduous regimen of untested therapy in a novel study involving aggressive chemotherapy.
There were no certainties, nobody had any idea whether or not it would have any impact, nor would it perform wonders, but he reacted positively.
She said that his current well-being was due to his ability to live in the present moment without dwelling on the past or worrying about the future.
She stated that his mindset was advantageous and a significant portion of his recuperation was attributed to his optimistic mentality. It takes a substantial amount of mental fortitude to overcome an ordeal such as this. While she had always been impressed by her spouse's perseverance and unwavering determination, she is now completely amazed.
In her blog post, she mentioned that her spouse made a comeback to performing earlier this year and had numerous gigs throughout the summer. He managed to engage the audience with comical and slightly risqué anecdotes and belted out songs with an unmistakable and forceful voice.
According to her statement, he entertained his audience with his distinct perspective on six decades in the wild entertainment industry, making them burst into laughter. Later, he shared his experience of battling cancer, which moved some of them to tears.
The pair is optimistic about the possibility of future performances. It has been confirmed that Holder will be a special guest at Tom Seals and his band's Christmas extravaganza in December.
Right now, I am thankful that my husband remains his playful and unstoppable self regardless of his endeavors," Suzan expressed.
