Noddy Holder: Slade star diagnosed with cancer five years ago, wife reveals

The spouse of Noddy Holder has disclosed that the ex-Slade lead singer was diagnosed with cancer in his oesophagus five years ago.
Holder's wife, Suzan, stated that initially, he was informed that he had only six months to live. At present, Holder is 77 years old.
She mentioned that the vocalist, recognized for leading successful songs like Merry Xmas Everybody and Cum On Feel The Noize, reacted positively to untested chemotherapy.
She expressed her admiration for his ability to navigate through the medical process. "It's incredible that he's doing so well and looks amazing after all this time," she remarked.
Mrs. Holder wrote in Cheshire Life magazine that her spouse had managed "with incredible cheerfulness and stunning courage".
Noddy Holder was the lead singer of a glam rock band for 26 years, starting from 1966 and ending in 1992. He comes from Walsall, which is in the West Midlands. During his time with the band, they managed to reach the number one spot on the UK charts six times.
In addition, he has gained experience in the entertainment industry by performing on television and radio. One of his notable TV credits includes his role in the ITV comedy series The Grimleys, which aired from 1999 to 2001. He has also hosted various radio programs on networks such as Piccadilly 1152 and Key 103 in Manchester.
According to Mrs. Holder, her spouse received medical care at the Christie hospital located in Manchester. He willingly participated in a demanding regimen of experimental treatment that constituted a fresh trial of high-strength chemotherapy.
Oesophageal cancer is a form of cancer that can develop in different parts of the oesophagus, which is the tube that connects your mouth to your stomach and is also known as the gullet or food pipe.

Suzan was in attendance at the MEN Pride of Manchester Awards in 2022 alongside Noddy Holder.
According to Mrs. Holder, the diagnosis was completely unexpected and a huge shock to them. She emphasized that staying united was crucial to getting through this challenging period.
"We only shared the news with our closest family and friends, and I don't feel the need to regret not telling others. However, I do apologize to those who had to endure the same pain and distress as us as we struggled to cope with this unknown and terrifying situation," Mrs. Holder declared.
According to Mrs. Holder, she and her husband Noddy were not assured that the treatment they received would prove to be effective. The couple has been married for nearly two decades.
She stated that Noddy is skilled in enjoying the present time without longing for previous experiences or being anxious about what is yet to come.
His optimistic mindset has been beneficial for him, and his recuperation is largely attributed to it.
Although the treatment was very demanding, Noddy Holder managed to perform multiple shows during the summer.
