Noddy Holder, the iconic frontman of Slade and a beloved figure in British music, reveals that for over three decades, he has been waking up his wife Suzan on Christmas morning by enthusiastically shouting, “IT’S CHRISTMAS!” even while she is still asleep.
This morning (December 12th), Noddy and Suzan Holder were guests on BBC Breakfast to discuss a charity raffle. Noddy has contributed a sculpture to this event, which aims to raise funds for the East Cheshire Hospice.
This unique sculpture of Noddy sporting his famous mirror hat from Top of the Pops was crafted by artist Patty Callaghan, who was specially commissioned for the project by Noddy and Suzan.
Noddy Holder appeared on BBC Breakfast.
In a conversation on BBC Breakfast with Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty, 78-year-old Noddy shared that he still exclaims, “It’s Christmas!” with the same enthusiasm as he did in the heyday of Slade.
Suzan shared with the hosts, "Each Christmas morning, that's how he gets me up. I'm not kidding. It's been over 30 years, and I still react like this," as she made a twitching motion.
As Noddy cheerfully exclaimed "Time really flies!", Suzan chimed in: "If you think it sounds loud on the album or in the grocery store, just picture it first thing in the morning or in the middle of the night!"
"First, he prepares a cup of tea. He sets it down before moving on to the next thing."
Noddy went on to say, “I end up waking everyone in the house and the neighbors, too. It happens just once a year—on Christmas Day! (Suzan) gets fidgety for an entire hour.”
When Charlie Stayt prompted Noddy to share his famous Slade holiday catchphrase, Noddy replied: “Everyone always wants me to do it, but I can't when I’m under contract for annual commercials. However, I can offer you something similar. I just can’t say ‘It’s Christmas!’ because... I’d get in trouble.”
Demonstrating his incredible singing ability, Noddy then bellowed a loud: “HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!”
