Nicole Kidman honoured with AFI Life Achievement Award

Nicole Kidman expressed her gratitude for receiving the American Film Institute Life Achievement Award, stating that she considers it an honor to be able to create movies.
At 56 years old, Kidman has become the inaugural Australian performer to receive the most prestigious accolade presented by the establishment.
The Hollywood ceremony saw Meryl Streep award the highly regarded accolade to the actress from Moulin Rouge.
Additional celebrities present were her partner, vocalist Keith Urban, and castmate from Big Little Lies, Reese Witherspoon.
Kidman received an award while wearing a long and shiny golden dress designed by Balenciaga. During her acknowledgement speech, she expressed gratitude towards all the directors with whom she collaborated in the past.
Creating films is an honor. It's amazing to have worked on films and TV shows with these storytellers who gave me the freedom to be creative and play unconventional female characters," she expressed.
"I am grateful for how you have enhanced my skills and granting me a spot, even if it is only for a short period of time, in this society."

Kidman's partner, Keith Urban who is a singer, accompanied her.
At the event, Kidman became emotional as her spouse expressed how she demonstrated to him the reality of love in action when he had issues with drug and alcohol addiction shortly after getting married in 2006.
Urban recently revealed that he had checked into a rehabilitation center for a period of three months after four months of being married. During the recent public appearance where he was accompanied by his wife, Kidman, and their two teenage daughters, he shared this information with them. This was the first time the family had been seen together on the red carpet.
Nic overcame all the discouraging thoughts, possibly even some from within herself, and decided to opt for love. Now, it's been 18 years since that decision.
