Nick Grimshaw's Ibiza villa targeted by gang during birthday trip

Mr. Grimshaw was caught napping in the villa when it was suddenly stormed.

During a recent vacation in Ibiza, thieves broke into Nick Grimshaw's rented villa while he and his loved ones were asleep.

The ex-Radio 1 morning show presenter was on the island to mark his 40th birthday.

An insider informed The Sun that Mr. Grimshaw and his family were rattled but thankfully unharmed.

A group of thieves broke into the property. They are notorious for stealing from fancy homes and vacation houses. The location was targeted because it is known for housing wealthy and well-known individuals, not necessarily because of the specific occupants at the time.

"The group wouldn't have known who he was. Unfortunately, he happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. It's definitely scary," the informant stated.

The gang is thought to choose properties to rob by pumping them full of a gas that puts people to sleep. Then they come in wearing special suits to protect themselves from the gas. It's not clear if they used this method on Mr. Grimshaw and his family.

Mr. Grimshaw has erased all proof of his journey to the Spanish island from his social media accounts and has decided not to make any public statements regarding the occurrence.

In a post that has since been removed, he was seen relaxing in the sun outside the villa with the caption "Celebrating 40 years of life".

In the house, there were his mother Eileen and fiancé Mesh Henry.

It is believed that Mr Grimshaw and Mr Henry have returned to their residence in London.

The 40-year-old became well-known in 2012 when he replaced Chris Moyles as the host of the Radio 1 Breakfast show.

After replacing Louis Walsh, he later became a judge on The X Factor in 2015.
