Breitling Scores Big With NFL Luxury Watch Deal: Chronomat B01 For 32 Teams

Introducing the new Breitling Chronomat B01 42 NFL Editions (NFC) in the latest blog post.

The popular Swiss watch company, Breitling, has hit a home run with their recent partnership with the National Football League. This exciting news was revealed today, giving Breitling the special rights to design high-end watches for all 32 NFL teams. In light of this collaboration, Breitling has launched their impressive Breitling Chronomat B01 NFL line.

The partnership was finalized after almost eighteen months of planning. Breitling used their existing Chronomat model to create the NFL Collection. The watches are 42mm in size and made of stainless steel. They have specially designed dials in official Pantone colors approved by the NFL, with each team's logo featured at 9:00. The NFL logo is also displayed on the back of each watch.

To mark the NFL's 104th anniversary, Breitling designed a special collection of watches for all 32 teams in the league. Each team will have just 104 timepieces available, with half of them featuring a rubber Rouleaux strap priced at $8,800, and the other half on a steel Rouleaux bracelet priced at $9,200.

Even though the Swiss watch brand has had many partnerships in the past with aviation, automotive, and other industries, this new partnership with an American sports league is the most important from a US point of view. It is the first time a Swiss watch brand in this price range has made a deal with a nationwide all-inclusive partnership with a popular sports league in North America.

During a private conversation, Thierry Prissert, the president of Breitling USA, mentioned, "We really appreciate several aspects of the NFL. One thing we love is the diversity of the audience. It has a strong and varied following, including many female fans. When you attend a game, you see families of all ages in the stands, and we find this audience diversity fascinating. It allows us to not only connect with our existing customers but also reach out to new ones," Prissert explained, highlighting that the 42mm size of the Chronomat NFL watch is suitable for most wrist sizes.

The Breitling Chronomat B01 NFL watches have all the athletic characteristics of the popular Breitling Chronomat, such as being powered by the brand's own B01 mechanical movement. The automatic chronograph caliber is certified by COSC as a chronometer with a power reserve of 70 hours and a five-year warranty.

Every Breitling Chronomat B01 42 NFL special edition watch features the NFL emblem on the back of the case.

Every watch face is custom-made to perfectly match the Pantone color of each team, with all hands featuring a Super-LumiNova coating. The watches are also able to withstand water up to a depth of 200 meters. Additional distinctive design features include a triple register dial (with three smaller dials), a date displayed at 6:00, and a crown that is easy to grip.

The watches will be shown for the first time tonight at an event outside the Breitling store in the Meatpacking area of New York City. Although all 32 watches will be available to see, only 17 team watches will be available for purchase initially (available at Breitling stores and authorized retailers), with the rest expected to be ready for sale in mid-to-late October because of production limitations.

From a manufacturing perspective, this was a significant project. The Swiss needed to adjust how they produced and supplied watches to meet the demands of the U.S. market and our collaboration," Prissert explained. "It was a challenge, but we had everyone's support. We also had to create unique dials in a limited run of 104 for each of the 32 team colors. Plus, there were some unexpected team logo alterations that we had to handle," Prissert added. He mentioned that despite these obstacles, all of the watches will be ready for purchase at the beginning of the NFL season.

Prissert mentioned that instead of collaborating with each team separately, Breitling partnered directly with the NFL to ensure the dial colors and logo colors were just right. The NFL has strict control over team colors and logos due to licensing agreements. Breitling had to submit 32 samples for approval, making sure they matched the correct Pantone colors and logo hues. The NFL wanted to make sure that each team was accurately portrayed, so they closely monitored the process.

Breitling's new Chronomat B01 42 is now the official watch of the New York Jets.

Prissert mentioned that this partnership is not new for the brand when it comes to football, but it is the biggest and most important in terms of licensing product. The brand has several NFL ambassadors, such as former MVP quarterback Boomer Esiason, with whom Breitling has collaborated on philanthropic watch projects for the Boomer Esiason Foundation. One of these projects is a special edition chronomat Super Bowl LVIII watch, with some of the proceeds benefitting the BEF. Earlier this year, a version of the watch with a strap was auctioned off, with all proceeds going to the BEF.

Prissert gives recognition to Esiason and other football buddies of the brand for starting the partnership with the NFL. Other Breitling "friends" consist of Trevor Lawrence, the quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars, who is part of Breitling's all-star squad campaign. The lineup also includes numerous NFL coaches who proudly wear Breitling watches.

Considering that only 104 of each team watch will be produced and the cost of around $9,000 may not be something everyone can afford, Prissert explained, "We have to begin somewhere. Our goal was to honor the NFL's 104 years, and while we understand that 104 watches per team will not reach all fans, as the fan base is much larger, we believe it is a positive step in establishing a partnership with the NFL. I already have a concept in mind for the next release, and I aim for it to be more budget-friendly and accessible. Nevertheless, we are thrilled about this launch."
