Swimmers take on Plymouth sea swim challenge

News

Over 160 individuals participated in a 3km swim starting from Plymouth's breakwater.

Every year, an event is planned to collect money for the charity that supports those with prostate cancer, the Chestnut Appeal.

People who knew how to swim at different levels participated, and there were safety monitors on paddle boards, kayaks, and jet skis.

Pedro Jimenez, who came all the way from Spain to participate, expressed that he was putting in all his hard work in honor of his deceased parents-in-law.

"It was a task I had been eager to undertake for five years," he stated.

However, due to the weather and my busy travel schedule, I haven't been able to do it until now.

I am sad to say that my husband's parents have passed away recently, and I am dedicating this swim in their memory.

The event concluded at Mount Batten beach this year, with Cillian McCarthy being the first swimmer to finish. He mentioned to the BBC that the conditions were peaceful and the water was very still.

In a previous interview, Reece Worth admitted that he had started off the race too quickly and ended up feeling tired towards the finish line.

Donations and fundraising play a crucial role in providing assistance to cancer patients and their loved ones in the Devon and Cornwall regions.
