Millwall sack Joe Edwards after 19 games and reappoint Neil Harris

After leading the team for only a little more than 90 days, Joe Edwards has been dismissed from his position as head coach of Millwall. As a replacement, the club has decided to bring back their previous manager, Neil Harris.

Edwards, who previously coached England's Under-20 team and had a triumphant career as a youth coach at Chelsea, took on the role as head coach following the departure of Gary Rowett in early November. This is Edwards' first role as a senior manager.

In his 19 games as manager, Millwall managed to win only four games and as a result, they have slipped to 21st position in the Championship. They are now just one point above the relegation zone.

On Wednesday, it was officially announced that Harris will be replacing someone in his new role. Harris had previously spent four years managing Millwall and led them to promotion from League One in 2017. He had recently been managing Cambridge United since December but was fired from his previous job at Gillingham in October. Harris has been signed onto a contract until the end of the next season.

To begin, I want to express my gratitude to Neil for accepting this task. I'm aware that he is thrilled and eager to take it on," proclaimed James Berylson, the chairman of Millwall.

Neil is familiar with this club and knows what it takes to triumph. Even though things are tough, he and Dave are eager to take on this challenge. This shows their fondness for Millwall and their unwavering commitment to enhancing the team's performance and achieving better outcomes.
