The upcoming non-formal gathering of NATO Foreign Affairs Ministers will be held in Prague on May 30-31, 2024, as hosted by Czechia.

The Secretary General expressed his gratitude towards Czechia for hosting the informal gathering that was arranged in preparation for the Washington Summit that is scheduled for July. He acknowledged that it has been 25 years since Czechia became a part of NATO and 22 years since the Prague Summit, where seven central and eastern European countries were invited to join the Alliance. He stated that this location was perfect to discuss ways in which NATO can be further strengthened and adapted in this significant year of celebration.

During the NATO conference held in Brussels in 2021, the leaders promised to enhance and extend their political discussions, and organize casual gatherings for the Foreign Affairs Ministers. Germany held the first informal meet in Berlin in May 2022, followed by Norway in Oslo in May 2023. Czechia became a part of NATO on 12th March 1999, along with Hungary and Poland.
