Nations League

What is Nations League?

Nations League is a brand new international soccer competition organized by UEFA. The tournament was established to replace international friendlies with more competitive matches among European nations. Its inaugural season kicked off in 2018, with 55 participating teams divided into four divisions. The objective of the Nations League is to provide more regular and meaningful matches for national teams while providing a clear path for teams to qualify for UEFA Euro and ultimately the FIFA World Cup.

How does it work?

The Nations League consists of four leagues (A, B, C, and D) with teams divided into groups. The top sides in each group will progress to the knockout stages. Teams in League A will compete for the Nations League title, while teams in the lower leagues will battle for promotion to higher tiers or relegation to lower tiers. The competition is linked to the UEFA Euro and World Cup qualifying system, providing teams with an additional opportunity to qualify for these prestigious tournaments. Overall, the Nations League aims to bring more excitement and competition to international soccer, resulting in better performances and tighter games.
