GMB panellist makes 'vile' remark about Princess of Wales

Narinder Kaur

Ms. Kaur, 51, who often provides commentary on programs like GMB, GB News, and Loose Women, expressed her thoughts, asking, "I genuinely want to know—why does Kate look much older? Isn't she just 42? Could being a smoker be the reason? That's the only explanation I can think of."

The princess is gradually resuming her royal responsibilities following her cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

Ms. Kaur’s tweet sparked a huge reaction on social media, with many angry fans calling her remarks “disgraceful” and “repulsive.”

Someone commented on X, saying: "SHE HAS FOUGHT CANCER. I can't express how disrespectful you're being." Another person chimed in with a sarcastic remark: "I don't know, maybe she's been dealing with cancer for the last year."

Remembrance Day marked the first occasion that Kate participated in two back-to-back engagements since she disclosed her cancer diagnosis earlier this year and announced that she was undergoing treatment.

Former Big Brother contestant Ms. Kaur later acknowledged in a video shared on social media that her tweet regarding Kate's looks was "foolish." She also expressed her frustration towards trolls who bombarded her with aggressive messages from accounts featuring EDL flags and Union Jacks, including racist comments.

The TV host mentioned, “I figured I’d make a short video rather than send out a bunch of tweets, as that can get quite absurd—like it wasn't already absurd enough.”

"I posted a thoughtless tweet. That wasn't my goal; I didn't mean to be hurtful or mean in any way."

"I'm not that kind of person, as everyone who knows me can attest. It was foolish of me to bring up aging. I've acknowledged my mistake, taken responsibility, and said sorry if it upset anyone."

Ms. Kaur noted that her brother endured harsh chemotherapy before he passed away, mentioning that such treatment can be really hard on individuals. However, she emphasized that her tweets were not aimed at cancer specifically.

In the same video, Ms. Kaur claimed that Kate enjoyed "a great deal of privilege" because she didn't have to work while undergoing cancer treatment.

She mentioned that many of the replies she got to her original tweet were regarding Meghan Markle, and she questioned, "What does Meghan have to do with this?"

The commentator took issue with those who criticized her, claiming they were trying to create a rivalry between Kate and Meghan. She stated, “You revealed your true agenda. You showed that this was really about me, as a woman of color from India, daring to speak out about Kate’s looks.”

On Sunday night, the broadcaster reiterated her previous statements, posting a series of new tweets addressing the criticism she has received.

In reply, a user on X commented, “Why not take a break from X for the night? Your constant tweeting since you were criticized is only highlighting how guilty you are about that awful remark you made.”

"I'm not... I'm really angry with the racists. I'm not moving from here," Ms. Kaur replied.

Yesterday, Kate was with the King and her husband, the Prince of Wales, in London as they guided the country in honoring those who lost their lives in war.

Dressed in a black military-inspired jacket adorned with shoulder straps, she sported her usual three poppies as she participated in the national two minutes of silence.

She watched the Remembrance Sunday service from a balcony of a government building that had a view of the Cenotaph.

After Kate finished her cancer treatment, the Prince of Wales expressed during his visit to South Africa that he looks forward to embarking on international trips with the princess.

His optimistic remarks follow his honest reflections on how challenging 2024 has been, describing it as "harsh" and "likely the toughest year of my life," as both his wife and father have received cancer diagnoses.

Kate, who is recovering, and Charles, who continues his treatment for the illness, were present at the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance on Saturday night.
