Mykhailo Mudryk is set to watch Chelsea vs Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Sunday after agreeing a deal to join the Blues from Shakhtar Donetsk.

The 22-year-old Ukraine international is set to complete his medical and will watch the Premier League match from the stands ahead of his unveiling.

Chelsea have more or less already confirmed the transfer – posting a picture and video of Mudryk on their Instagram page – urging fans to follow him and ‘show him some love’.

Mudryk has verbally agreed to a seven-year contract after Chelsea, according to reports, after Chelsea agreed a club-record deal with Shakhtar for the star player.

It is also believed that Chelsea head coach Graham Potter has already spoken to Mudryk and played a key role in convincing him to snub Arsenal.

For months, the Gunners had appeared to be the favourites to land Mudryk in January and the player himself was thought to be desperate to move to the Emirates, posting a string of messages about the Gunners on social media.

But on Saturday afternoon it emerged that senior Chelsea officials had flown to the continent in an effort to hijack Arsenal’s deal and have now won the race for his signature.

Mykhaylo Mudryk is now completing his medical tests as Chelsea plan to have all official contracts signed in the next few hours. 🔵🩺🇺🇦 #CFC

The west London club held face-to-face talks with their Shakhtar counterparts and agreed on a deal worth €100million, report The Athletic.

That is far more than Arsenal were prepared to go to, while Chelsea are also prepared to pay a larger portion of the fee up front.

The Blues will pay €70million (£62m) now, with a further €30m (£26.5m) in add-ons, while Mudryk himself has already given the green light for the deal to happen.

There had been suggestions the attacker might have been holding out for Arsenal and only Arsenal and CBS Sports reported that Mudryk even asked if the Gunners would match Chelsea’s offer – but the Blues blew Mikel Arteta’s side out of the water in negotiations for the player, too.

They have offered Mudryk a much more lucrative salary and a longer contract, with the Ukrainian ready to sign a seven-year deal. Arsenal, by contrast, had only been offering a five-year contract.

Arsenal are currently top of the Premier League table while Chelsea have been in abysmal form this term and find themselves 10th, 10 points off the top four.
