Moses Itauma Scores Quick KO In Riyadh Thriller

Itauma shares his thoughts after watching his knockout of McKean play out on the big screen.

Moses Itauma dominated Demsey McKean in Riyadh on Saturday night, scoring a decisive knockout just one round into the fight.

For many fans, Itauma represents the bright future of British heavyweight boxing. With Tyson Fury as the established champion, Anthony Joshua's star diminishing, and Daniel Dubois currently reigning, it's up to 19-year-old Itauma to reveal what the future holds for the sport.

With promoter Frank Warren at the helm, Itauma had only contested fights against opponents he was widely favored to defeat. In a total of 10 bouts, he has achieved 10 victories, with eight of those victories coming by way of knockout.

In July, the experienced Polish fighter Mariusz Wach went the distance for two rounds, facing a significant challenge in McKean, who proved to be his strongest opponent to date.

The Australian had maintained an undefeated record until August of last year when he was defeated by Filip Hrgovic. Standing at 6 feet 6 inches tall, he had the potential to be a formidable force in the ring.

Itauma required only one round—actually, it was even shorter than that—before he launched a series of powerful body punches. He then delivered some left hooks that broke through his opponent’s guard, leaving McKean in an awkward position after the initial blow. Itauma capped it off with a more ferocious shot that ended the fight, prompting the referee to stop the match.

This marked Itauma's seventh first-round knockout in his career, and he appears to be a formidable contender.

As a teenager who has performed so impressively, he might find it difficult to secure opponents willing to face him, considering the tough competition he has presented to everyone so far.
