Moses Itauma blasts through Ilja Mezencev, Mark Chamberlain stops Joshua Wahab in Riyadh in first round - Eurosport

Moses Itauma

In a big fight held in Riyadh, which you can watch on TNT Sports Box Office, Moses Itauma won his first title by defeating Ilja Mezencev in the second round. It was an impressive performance that left Ilja Mezencev far behind.

Itauma is only 19 years old but he already shows great potential as a young heavyweight boxer, not just in Britain but possibly even beyond. He has already participated in nine professional fights.

In Ryadh, he faced off against a seasoned German boxer named Mezencev. The prize for the match was the empty WBO intercontinental heavyweight championship.

Itauma began with great intensity, determined to continue forward. He was only one year and two days shy of beating Mike Tyson's record as the youngest heavyweight champion.

The adolescent arrived with more speed than before and successfully threw some forceful left-handed punches during the initial round against his adversary who was born in Kazakhstan and happened to be nine years his senior.

Itauma harshly attacked Mezencev towards the conclusion of the initial round using powerful punches from his left side. If the bell hadn't rung, it wouldn't have been unexpected for the referee to intervene.

Itauma was hoping for his fifth first-round knockout, but a bell interrupted his plan. However, once the second round started, he dominated his opponent and knocked him down hard. The opponent struggled to stand back up and showed signs of being disoriented. The referee made the decision to end the match and Itauma emerged victorious.

After the intense confrontation, two undefeated boxers - Frank Sanchez and Agit Kabayel - faced each other in a WBC heavyweight title eliminator.

Kabayel was considered to have a small advantage before the fight began. The person who won the match would potentially be able to compete against the winner of Fury vs. Usyk in the future.

During the seventh round, Kabayel landed a brutal punch to his opponent's body, causing him to almost lose the fight. The referee counted to seven before Sanchez managed to stand up again. However, Kabayel didn't stop there and delivered another powerful hit to Sanchez's body, causing him to fall down to his knees again. This time, Sanchez couldn't recover and the referee counted him out as he was unable to continue fighting due to the damage Kabayel had caused.

Prior to the Itauma match, Mark Chamberlain faced Joshua Wahab. Wahab moved up to lightweight and managed to get back on his feet after Chamberlain knocked him down with a stunning punch. He then went on to defeat his opponent for the seventh time in the first round of his career.

Chamberlain has gained the WBC silver lightweight championship title and has the opportunity to elevate his aspirations in the weight class.

Sergey Kovalev, who is 41 years old and has won the light heavyweight championship three times, was the opening contestant in the main event against Robin Safar.

In the boxing match, Kovalev wasn't performing as well as he used to and in the final round, he was losing on points. Suddenly, he was hit by a powerful right-hand punch and almost knocked out, but fortunately, the bell rang just in time to save him from a knockout loss.

Kovalev often found himself pushed back by Safar, who was determined to keep up the pace and advance his own career. Despite Kovalev's efforts to stay competitive, Safar ultimately won the fight by unanimous decision.
