Villa sign forward Rogers from Middlesbrough
In January, Morgan Rogers played for Middlesbrough in their FA Cup match against Aston Villa. Unfortunately, Middlesbrough lost 1-0.
The club Aston Villa has completed the signing of Morgan Rogers, a forward previously from Middlesbrough.
The amount of money needed to transfer the 21-year-old, who usually plays as a wing player, is £8 million with additional payments that may increase the total amount to £15 million.
Boro, a team in the Championship league, has seen Rogers contribute greatly to their success this year with a whopping seven goals and nine assists in just 33 games.
Last July, the England Under-20s football player transferred from Manchester City to Riverside Stadium for a sum of £1.5 million. He signed a contract that will last for four years.
Aston Villa tried three times to buy Rogers from Middlesbrough, but were turned down each time. Eventually, a price was agreed upon between the two teams.
Manchester City is entitled to a share of the money after striking a deal with Boro. Boro agreed to pay a quarter of their profits to Manchester City as a sell-on fee.
After Villa's 3-1 loss against Newcastle at their home ground on Tuesday, manager Unai Emery expressed his thoughts on their new acquisition Rogers. He stated that the team is eager and enthusiastic to collaborate with him, and they believe that he will be able to advance and improve with them.
On a different note, Bertrand Traore, a forward for Villa Football Club, is anticipated to transfer to Villarreal, a La Liga team, without any transfer fee involved. This is made possible as he has decided to end his current contract with his previous team.
In September of last year, Villa made a purchase of Traore from Lyon for a price of £17m. However, Traore has experienced both good and bad times with his performance and health since his entrance into the Premier League. Emery made the decision to inform Traore that he could depart from the team.
Traore began his professional career with Chelsea and played regularly when he was signed by Dean Smith. However, he had difficulty getting playing time under subsequent managers Steven Gerrard and Emery.
In August 2022, the captain of Burkina Faso's football team joined Istanbul Basaksehir on loan for the entire season after being left out of regular matches at Villa. The latest news from Spain indicates that he is close to transferring to Villarreal, a team ranked 14th in the top football league in Spain.
Aston Villa's current position in the Premier League is fourth, however, they are five points behind the top spot. This is despite their recent form of only winning one out of their last four league matches.
Additionally, the team has advanced to the fourth round replay against Chelsea in the FA Cup and has secured a place in the last 16 of the Europa Conference League.
Back in January, Villa enlisted the services of a new defender, Kosta Nedeljkovic. The fee spent on acquiring him from Red Star Belgrade was not disclosed.
On Tuesday, Emery announced that he does not anticipate any additional deals for his team to be made before the Premier League winter transfer deadline, which is scheduled for Thursday at 11:00 PM GMT.
