The photo of the Modern Family actors getting back together has unintentionally caused a great deal of concern among the show's followers.
The well-loved American comedy series, Modern Family, came to a close last year after a successful 11 seasons. Despite the show's conclusion, its main cast members have managed to sustain their friendship beyond the set.
Last Wednesday, Sofia Vergara and Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who acted as Gloria Delgado and Mitchell Pritchett, respectively, posted several snapshots on Instagram displaying their "almost flawless" gathering.
In the pictures, there were several performers who appeared, for example, Claire Dunphy (Julie Bowen), Cameron Tucker (Eric Stonestreet), Jay Pritchett (Ed O'Neil), Haley Dunphy (Sarah Hyland), Alex Dunphy (Ariel Winter), Luke Dunphy (Nolan Gould), Manny Delgado (Rico Rodriguez), and Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, who used to be a child but is now grown up, playing the role of Lily Tucker-Pritchett.
Yet, Ty Burrell, who portrayed Phil Dunphy in the show, was not present. As a tribute, a picture of the actor held by his on-screen kids was displayed in his honor.
On Instagram, Ferguson said that their reunion was almost perfect but they really wished that Ty was there with them. To make up for Ty's absence, they took a nice picture of him and brought it along. Vergara posted a video on her account showing Ty's photo beautifully displayed on her mantelpiece and added a message saying how much they miss him.
People who looked at the pictures were briefly surprised and felt sad because they thought Burrell had passed away. Many concerned messages were written in the comment sections of Vergara's and Ferguson's pages. Other individuals had to intervene and clarify that Burrell is still alive.
One worried supporter wrote, "I thought he had died, and I panicked," while another penned, "Please refrain from doing this in the future. I thought he had passed away!!"
Someone else wrote: "I had to search on Google just to ensure that he's alive."
In this blog section, we can see a picture of Jesse Tyler Ferguson standing next to a photograph of Ty Burrell. It seems that Jesse is striking a pose next to the picture.
Before filming the last season in 2019, Steven Levitan, one of the creators of the sitcom, uploaded a picture of the cast imitating a snapshot they had taken while filming the first season. Levitan noted that a decade ago, they took the original photo during the first #modernfamily read-through and now, the conclusion starts.
Although the viewership of Modern Family reduced in the subsequent seasons, it continued to remain in the top five scripted series of ABC on a regular basis.
The way in which it portrayed families that were a mix of different parents and same-sex partners was seen as a unique and innovative take on the traditional comedic style that revolves around home life.
