Mohamed Salah suggests this will be his final year at Liverpool after scoring in win over Manchester United
Mo Salah announced that this will be his final season at Liverpool, mentioning that he has not had any discussions about renewing his contract.
After the game against Manchester United, Salah talked about how he was involved in all three goals during Liverpool's 3-0 win. He mentioned that he had a nice summer break and took some time to relax and stay optimistic.
"It's no secret that this is my final year with the club."
I simply want to have fun without overthinking it. I feel like I have the freedom to enjoy playing football and whatever happens next year, we will see.
On the other hand, Jamie Carragher, who works as a sports commentator for Sky Sports, has suggested that Salah could still decide to remain with Liverpool. "I would be shocked if Salah doesn't continue playing for Liverpool in the upcoming season," Carragher stated.
Salah assisted Luis Diaz twice and then scored a third goal, quieting Old Trafford on an exciting Sunday. After the game, Salah hinted that he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season in an interview.

He further stated: "Before the game, I mentioned that it might be the final occasion [I play here with Liverpool].
No one at the club has talked to me about signing a new contract, so I'm just thinking, 'Fine, I'll play this season and then we'll see what happens next.'
I don't have control over the situation, but I haven't heard from anyone at the club. We'll just have to wait and see.
Salah, who will be out of contract in July of next year, has been playing for Liverpool since the summer of 2017. He joined the club from Roma for a record fee at that time.
Liverpool rejected a spoken offer of over £100m for Salah from Saudi Pro League team Al Ittihad at the close of the summer transfer window in 2023.
During that time, Salah had no intentions of departing from Merseyside. The 33-year-old Egyptian player will have his birthday in June.

Is Salah Leaving Liverpool Next Summer? Sky Sports Experts Weigh In
Jamie Carragher believes that Mo Salah is really focused on breaking records and playing for a long time, similar to Ronaldo. Many people tend to believe that once you reach the age of 35, your career in football is over. However, Carragher sees Salah taking good care of his body and aiming to continue playing until his late 30s or even into his 40s.
I highly doubt that a transfer to a Saudi team is likely for him next season. He is a skilled player who is currently competing in the top league globally and representing one of the largest clubs.

"Whether it happens next season or in the next couple of seasons, he will be remembered as one of Liverpool's greatest players, alongside legends like Kenny Dalglish and Steven Gerrard. He may not have as many medals as other players, but he is arguably the best wide player the Premier League has ever seen."
"Of course, you are determined to hold on to him. It's not just about spending money on him. It's not about dwelling on the past, but focusing on what you can do moving forward."
Once you reach your mid-30s, you may not be able to perform like you used to - but he could be an exception. It is clear that Liverpool is eager to retain him and Virgil van Dijk, but it may come down to financial negotiations. Will their salaries remain the same as they age over the next few years? This is the discussion that will arise.

I would be shocked if Salah isn't part of Liverpool next season because I believe he will be determined to break every record in the club's history.
Melissa Reddy highlighted Mohamed Salah's importance to Liverpool during the game at Old Trafford. She also pointed out that Salah has not yet had any discussions about a new contract, which is putting more pressure on the club.
The player, aged 32, is in the last year of his contract and has stated that he is not stressing about the situation. However, reports from Sky Sports News suggest that he would prefer to stay with Liverpool.
Salah has not thought about joining another team, but believes he still has a lot of time left to play at a very high level. He wants to be contending for the top honors and so he is not interested in any offers from Saudi Arabia right now.
Salah believes it is up to Liverpool to initiate discussions about a new contract, as he feels it is not his responsibility to lead the way in negotiations.
The lack of any conversation or written plans for him to review is an important point to note.
The club has not said anything yet, which might mean they are okay with him leaving without getting any money for him. He has been playing for the club for seven seasons and always goes above and beyond what is expected.
Finding a player to fill in for Salah would be very challenging, especially with the current market conditions.
This is not to mention that Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are also entering the last year of their contracts.
Liverpool has a lot of work ahead of them.
Roy Keane: "He has the power to make decisions about his contract. Clubs often have rules about not renewing contracts for players once they reach a certain age, but ultimately he will choose his own path."
It's clear that they will need to extend a contract to him since he is their star player. However, it's safe to say that he will have many choices available to him.
Daniel Sturridge said he would be shocked if Mohamed Salah left the club. Salah has accomplished a lot at the club, and Sturridge hasn't seen him happier.
He sounded like he really wanted to be at the club. If the club meets his demands, he will likely stay. I am really hoping he decides to stay because he has been amazing.
