Mo Salah ‘disappointed’ Liverpool have not tabled a new contract offer

The renowned Egyptian forward will finish his contract at Anfield when the current English Premier League season wraps up.

Mohamed Salah expressed his disappointment over Liverpool not providing him with a new contract. He feels that he is "more out than in" as his current agreement approaches its conclusion.

Salah, aged 32, has netted 12 goals across all tournaments this season, but his contract will expire after the 2024/25 season.

The Egyptian player proved his worth once again on Sunday by netting two goals in Liverpool's 3-2 win against Southampton, helping the team extend their lead to eight points at the top of the Premier League standings.

However, his statements following the game indicate that Salah, who joined Anfield in 2017 and has secured both the Champions League and Premier League titles with the team, might depart without a transfer fee.

"We're nearing December, and I still haven't gotten any offers to remain with the team," he mentioned. "I’m likely on my way out."

"I’ve spent a lot of years with this club, and there's truly no place like it. However, ultimately, the decision is beyond my control."

Salah is one of three important players for Liverpool who are approaching the final six months of their contracts, alongside Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who will also be free agents at the end of the season.

If they don't agree to an extension by January, all three will be able to talk to foreign clubs at that time.

When questioned about his feelings on not getting an offer from Liverpool, Salah responded, “Absolutely, I am. I have a deep affection for the fans, and they feel the same about me. Ultimately, the situation is out of my control and theirs as well. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.”

"I have no plans to retire anytime soon, so I’m just enjoying the game and concentrating on the current season. My goal is to win the Premier League and ideally, the Champions League too. I’m feeling a bit let down, but we’ll see how things turn out."
