During a promotional tour for her new Netflix movie Damsel, Millie Bobby Brown was questioned about the criticism she's received for her accent. Some people criticized her for having an inconsistent accent, especially during her recent appearance on The Tonight Show. However, when interviewer Max Balegde gave her a Nando's gift card to prove her British identity, Brown defended herself by speaking directly to the camera with her very British accent.
Let me address this quickly. I work as an actor and have been in the public eye since childhood. I grew up in America and when I'm on set, I adapt to the role I'm playing by imitating different people. I can't help it when I'm around my fiancé or people like Jimmy Fallon with a strong American accent, I tend to imitate their accent. Now that I'm in England, I find myself doing the same thing. I don't mean to offend anyone, and I apologize if it bothers you. I'm doing the best I can.
It's normal for Brown to have acquired the same accent as Jake Bongiovi, the crown prince of New Jersey. And when she begins using the words "dude" and "bud" like Jimmy Fallon, we will understand why.
