Mika Stojsavljevic, a teenager, brought British pride to the US Open by winning the junior championship. However, despite her success, she will return to school shortly after her triumph.

The person from London defeated Wakana Sonobe with a score of 6-4 6-4 to make history as the first British player to win the girls' competition in New York since Heather Watson achieved the same in 2009.

Stojsavljevic continued her strong performance in the semi-finals, defeating Iva Jovic, a 16-year-old American who had reached the second round of the main women's draw. She then followed it up with another confident showing in her next match.

She achieved success only one day after Jack Draper lost in the semi-finals of the men's tournament, showing that there is a positive future ahead for British tennis.

"It still hasn't fully registered," said Stojsavljevic, who was not expected to win. "I want to thank my coaches for their help and my family for cheering me on from afar."

During my time on the court, I made sure to have faith in my abilities and approach the game with the same mentality as any other match. I believe I executed that strategy successfully.

"I'm a big fan of competing in fights. It's thrilling to go head-to-head and give it your all in each match. Winning brings such an amazing rush of satisfaction."

Stojsavljevic won't have much time to party because she will return to school on Tuesday.

The person from London goes to a school connected to the LTA National Academy and hopes she doesn't have to have a math class on her first day back.

"I will return to school on Tuesday. I am flying back on Sunday and then heading back to school," she mentioned.

"I am taking my GCSE exams this year, and it is crucial to put my focus on doing well in them. I will think about my plans after I have completed my exams."

I really dislike math! I still haven't received my schedule, but I anticipate it will be quite challenging. It may be a bit of a change for me.

"In our environment, only tennis players are allowed in our classroom. The classrooms are designed to be small in order to maintain focus solely on us."

"I believe it will be more comfortable to be around fellow tennis players. However, the atmosphere at school may pose some challenges."

While Stojsavljevic achieved success, Mingge Xu and Charlie Robertson both fell short in the semi-finals of the boys' tournament.
