After celebrating a Grand Slam victory, Mika Stojsavljevic is now heading back to school and starting Year 11.

"I'll be returning on Sunday and heading back to school," the 15-year-old champion of the girls' division at the US Open said. She is the first British player to win since Heather Watson in 2009.

I will be taking my GCSE exams this year and it is crucial to successfully complete them.

Stojsavljevic, who lives in Ealing in West London, is a student at Loughborough Amhurst School. The school is affiliated with the LTA National Academy, where she receives her training.

When she was asked how her classmates would respond to her achievement, she said: "In our group, everyone in the classroom plays tennis."

The teenager will return to school this week after her impressive win in New York.

The classrooms are designed to be small so that the focus is solely on the students.

I believe it will be more comfortable to mingle with people who play tennis, but the dynamic at school might be slightly changed.

When questioned about the tennis players she looked up to as a kid, Stojsavljevic, who stands at 6 feet tall, mentioned that Maria Sharapova and Novak Djokovic were always her role models.
