Middlesbrough vs Reading

Michael Carrick restored Dael Fry and Aaron Ramsey to the Middlesbrough starting line-up as he made two changes for the home clash with Reading.

Fry replaced Paddy McNair at centre-back alongside Darragh Lenihan, with McNair missing out after suffering a nasty head injury against West Brom last weekend. The Northern Ireland international had been a doubt for this game, with Carrick rating his chances of playing in this game as touch and go.

The second change to the starting line-up sees Aaron Ramsey back in as one of the wide forwards with Riley McGree. That's at the expense of Marcus Forss, who drops to the bench for Reading's visit following last weekend's defeat to West Brom.

There are two other changes in the squad overall, with Anfernee Dijksteel and Alex Mowatt back in the squad. As well as McNair, Matt Crooks also misses out, with the midfielder-slash-striker believed to have a slight knock that has ruled him out of this game.

As for the visitors, there are three changes for them - one of which sees Dean Bouzanis in goal because Joe Lumley is ineligible to play against Boro while on loan at the Royals from Boro. They also restore captain Andy Yiadom to the team after a recent two-match suspension, while Shane Long returns to the starting line-up. Lucas Joao is back on the bench after a recent injury.

Starting XI: Steffen, Smith, Fry, Lenihan, Giles, Howson, Hackney, Ramsey, McGree, Akpom, Archer

Subs: Roberts, Dijksteel, Bola, Mowatt, Barlaser, Jones, Forss.
