Michael Schumacher 'seen in public for the first time since 2013'
Schumacher At His Daughter's Wedding
Reports indicate that Michael Schumacher attended his daughter's wedding, marking his first public appearance in 11 years.
The seven-time Formula One champion experienced significant injuries in a skiing accident back in 2013. According to The Mirror, he attended the wedding of his daughter, Gina-Maria, who is 27, and her partner Ian Bethke.
The ex-racing driver needs continuous assistance after his accident in the French Alps more than ten years ago.
At that moment, he was skiing with his son when he collided with a rock and injured his head. Although Schumacher had a helmet on, he still sustained injuries that would dramatically affect his life.
He was transported by helicopter to Grenoble Hospital, where he had two surgeries before entering a medically induced coma that lasted for several months.
In September 2014, the 55-year-old went back to his residence at Lake Geneva, where his wife Corinna and a group of healthcare specialists have been looking after him ever since.
Schumacher's health has remained confidential since then, with only a select few friends and family members allowed to see him.
The Formula 1 icon observed the festivities at his family's villa in Majorca. The event was described as "extremely private," with attendees required to leave their phones at the entrance when they arrived. Reports indicate that Schumacher saw his oldest child make her way down the aisle.
The ceremony spanned half an hour, as reported by the Majorcan publication Ultima Hora.
They shared that the attendees enjoyed a feast along with a celebration featuring a live country music band.
Gina-Maria shared a photo with her new husband on Instagram, captioning it: “I’ll always say yes to you, now and forever.”
Ralf Schumacher, who is Michael's sibling, was present as well.
