Michael J Fox, a former actor turned activist, who is currently living with Parkinson's disease, was met with a enthusiastic applause from the crowd when he unexpectedly showed up at the Baftas.

The famous actor from Back to the Future, who was told he had the sickness in 1991 and hardly shows up in public, received a big round of applause from the spectators when he walked onto the stage at the Royal Festival Hall to give out the prize for Best Film on Sunday, February 18th.

Several enthusiasts expressed on different social media platforms that they were deeply touched and emotional at witnessing the 62-year-old present the accolade.

As the Bafta host and Doctor Who star David Tennant brought the Canadian-American actor onto the stage, he praised him as a "genuine movie icon".

During his opening statement, Fox stated that movies have the ability to "transform one's existence".

According to his statement, there were five movies nominated in this particular category for tonight's event and every single one of them shares a common trait. He claims that these five movies are exemplars of what their industry has to offer.

According to Fox, movies have the power to unite individuals regardless of their background or origin.

He said: "They say movies are magical for a reason because they have the ability to make your day better."

At the Baftas, Fox is responsible for presenting the prestigious Best Film award.

At present, there is no remedy for the sickness, but therapies exist that aid in lessening the key indicators and sustain a good quality of life for as much time as feasible.

During an April 2023 interview with CBS Mornings, Fox expressed that it is becoming increasingly difficult to cope with the conditions.
