The temperature did not go beyond the previous high of 6.8°C in Quidinish located on the Isle of Harris in Scotland. Some parts of southern England, which includes London and Kent, experienced snowfall for the first time this winter.

On Tuesday, the weather is predicted to stay cold by The Met Office, with a considerable wind chill approaching from the east. However, the probability of snowfall will be lower.

Possible Snow Today?

Before Tuesday, the Met Office predicted that there would still be snowflakes falling in certain places across the southern part of England during the early hours of the day.

Tom Morgan, a meteorologist from the Met Office, stated that there hasn't been a significant amount of snowfall, and some regions have only received a light dusting that measures approximately one or two centimetres.

On Tuesday, he mentioned that there would be less snow and more dry weather, except for a few icy showers that would occur in Cornwall. He also stated that there won't be a significant amount of snowfall on Tuesday.

In reality, the weather will be considerably brighter than it was today, especially in southern areas when compared to Monday.

According to the weather predictor, a chilly breeze from the east will bring about a "considerable wind chill" on Tuesday, resulting in temperatures feeling like they're as low as -3°C in the south-west area of England.

According to Mr. Morgan, a frigid gust of air traveling from the northern region, which will primarily impact Scotland, is probable to usher in additional chilly weather during the upcoming weekend along with occasional snow flurries.

The temperatures in Birmingham fell to as low as -1°C, while Glasgow experienced 0°C and London faced a temperature drop of 1°C overnight.

Train companies cautioned their passengers to exercise caution while using their services owing to the hazardous icy situation. Nonetheless, there were no significant interruptions reported.

Any Current Weather Alerts?

A warning has been issued for people residing in Northern West England, the Midlands, Southern West England, and Southern East England. It has been declared that an amber alert regarding health safety should be observed until noon on Friday.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has put out an amber alert, which suggests that the impact of cold weather will be felt throughout the health service for an extended period.

The regions of North East England, Yorkshire and the Humber, East of England, and London have an ongoing health alert for cold temperatures, which is indicated by a yellow warning.

Chilly climate can increase the possibility of heart attacks, strokes, and respiratory ailments, putting the elderly and people with pre-existing medical issues at greater risk.

According to Dr. Agostinho Sousa, who supervises extreme events and health protection at UKHSA, it is vital to monitor the welfare of individuals who are vulnerable to the cold as the Met Office expects the temperature to decrease throughout the UK in the coming week.
