At the award event held on Monday in London, Messi was declared the winner, beating out Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.

At the beginning of the year, Messi commenced his journey with Paris Saint Germain, achieving a total of nine goals and securing the Ligue 1 championship.

During the summer, he transferred to Inter Miami and managed to score a remarkable 10 goals in just seven games which helped his team to secure the first-ever Leagues Cup title.

The 36-year-old individual received the same amount of votes as Haaland. Haaland is known for aiding Manchester City in winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League.

The two players had an equal amount of points, therefore the ultimate verdict was determined through the votes of the captain of the national team.

Messi received the vote of all four home nation leaders, including Harry Kane from England, Andy Robertson from Scotland, Aaron Ramsey from Wales, and Jonny Evans from Northern Ireland.

Who did the coach of England, Southgate, choose as his favorites? He opted for three talented players from City.

After City's success in winning three trophies, including the Premier League, Southgate opted for Haaland, Rodri, and Bernardo Silva.

This year, Rodri secured six championship titles. Alongside the treble obtained with City, he also earned victories in the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup. Moreover, his efforts led to achieving the UEFA Nations League with Spain on the global arena.

Silva has consistently been the most top-performing player for City after joining the team from Monaco in 2017.

Even though there have been rumors of him leaving every summer, he chooses to stay at the Etihad Stadium and consistently delivers exceptional performances.

Pep Guardiola, the head coach of City, was recently named the top coach for men this year. When asked which team he preferred between his current City team or his past Barcelona team, he responded by saying he wasn't sure and that it would be an exciting game to watch! He also mentioned that both teams are exceptional and it would be interesting to see who the opposing coach was.

The Barcelona team we used to play for was amazing, especially considering how young we were. However, the Premier League team we're on now is incredibly challenging and competitive, with numerous tournaments to keep us on our toes. Even after clinching the treble this season, these guys continue to prove their resilience year after year.

The greatest reward I can receive as a manager is simply being in the presence of my players, regardless of the outcome of the game. It surpasses any sense of victory or defeat.
