New 'Mean Girls' Movie Hits Theaters Now
Earlier this year, Tina Fey produced and launched a fresh "Mean Girls" movie, based on the Broadway musical that was inspired by the 2004 film.
Similar to the 2004 film, this musical adaptation tells the story of Cady's relocation to the suburbs, where she encounters the challenging social dynamics of high school.

In that environment, she discovers that she's welcomed into a high-status but superficial clique of girls called the Plastics, headed by Regina George, portrayed by Reneé Rapp.
It was promoted as "a fresh take from Tina Fey," featuring music and modern technology, but Fey mentioned that the "fundamental storyline" still holds significance after twenty years.
