Reports have announced that Matthew Perry, aged 54, has passed away.

According to sources from law enforcement, the popular actor who played Chandler Bing in Friends was discovered deceased in a hot tub at his residence in the Los Angeles area over the weekend. This news has been reported by both TMZ and the LA Times.

Sources reported that police responded to the residence at approximately 4pm where they discovered Perry in a state of non-response. The Los Angeles Police Department acknowledged they were summoned to the scene by declining to provide additional details.

According to sources, there were no indications of any wrongdoing at first. The inquiry is still ongoing.

Perry came into this world in the year 1969 to a father named John Bennett Perry, who is an actor, and a mother named Suzanne Marie Langford in the city of Plymouth, Massachusetts. During his early years, he lived in both Montreal, Canada, and Los Angeles.

He started acting when he was young and then became famous for his role as the funny and clever Bing in the popular 90s TV show, Friends. He acted in 234 episodes for 10 seasons between 1994 and 2004. He was even nominated for an Emmy award for his performance in 2002.

Perry has also acted in several other television shows such as Boys Will Be Boys, Growing Pains, Beverly Hills 90210, The West Wing, Scrubs and The Odd Couple.

He also had parts in movies like Fools Rush In, The Kid, and 17 Again.

He hasn't acted since 2017.

Last year in October, Perry put out a book about his life story titled Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing. In it, he wrote about his challenges dealing with addiction.

He showed remorse about being easily recognizable as someone who was under the influence of alcohol or drugs on different seasons by fans of Friends because of his looks.

He additionally shared an account of receiving medical interventions while filming the subsequent seasons of the program.

Although Perry is not known for using social media often, he posted a loving picture with his dad on Instagram recently.

On October 15th, a picture was shared where he was captured standing next to his father, with their arms around each other and big grins on their faces.

In the caption, he stated that he and his father John were both holding drinks.

The LA Times included a very emotional statement from Perry about his memoir during the Festival of Books in April when reporting on his passing.

He expressed that no one wanted to achieve fame as much as he did. At age 25, during the second year of 'Friends,' he believed that becoming famous would be the solution to all his problems. However, after eight months of experiencing it for himself, he realized that the American dream did not bring true happiness nor fulfill the emptiness in his life. He found that he craved attention excessively, and fame did not provide what he had hoped it would. It turned out to be misleading.
