MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Following his recent injury issue, Mason Mount received support from his Manchester United colleagues on Sunday.
The midfielder was taken off just 14 minutes into the Premier League match against Manchester City after indicating to the United bench that he was unable to continue.
Mount went down on the field at the Etihad Stadium and was attended to by a member of Manchester United's medical staff, but he had already signaled that a substitution was necessary.
Kobbie Mainoo took his place, and as he made his way to the sidelines, Mount received comforting gestures from teammates like captain Bruno Fernandes and Rasmus Hojlund. The specifics of his injury were not immediately evident.
Mount has faced a challenging period at United due to injuries since transferring from Chelsea last year. He has only managed to make eight starts in the Premier League since the start of last season.
United triumphed with a score of 2-1, thanks to late goals from Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo.
