Earps has been with United for the past five years, but her contract was coming to an end as summer approached.

United had been discussing with the top goalkeeper in England for two years, but they couldn't come to a deal.

A statement from the club expressed gratitude to Mary for her excellent service and wished her well in her future endeavors.

Earps played in 125 games for United and played a key role in the club's victory in the Women's FA Cup last year. However, their performance in the Women's Super League was underwhelming as they finished in fifth place.

United rejected a record-breaking offer for a women's football goalkeeper when Arsenal tried to sign Earps last year.

The 31-year-old player is the second person to leave the team recently, following the announcement of captain Katie Zelem's departure on Friday.

PSG had originally wanted to sign Earps during the winter transfer window. Among the many clubs interested in her, the French team's interest stood out as the most compelling, especially as she had been free to negotiate with other teams since January.

The signing marks the beginning of a potentially hectic summer for PSG, as Griege Mbock is also anticipated to come over from Lyon, their rivals.

"Earps: Time For A Fresh Challenge"

Writing on social media, Earps shared her reasons for leaving United and expressed gratitude to those who stood by her during her tenure at the club.

"After serving for five years, I have decided that I am ready for a new adventure. This decision has been on my mind for a while and was not made hastily," she explained.

The club is going through a time of change, and I don't think it lines up with where I am in my career right now. So, I believe it's the right moment to switch things up and take on a fresh challenge.

I can't find the right words to truly show how thankful I am, but I hope the following message comes close.

I am happy to say that I have not missed a single minute of league play for the team in the last five seasons. It is a great achievement for us as a team to have set a new record for the most clean sheets in a season in 2023.

The best part of it all was winning the FA Cup at Wembley, a trophy I've always wanted to win, with all of you singing loudly. There are many other great memories I have, but these are the ones I will always hold dear.

I have enjoyed performing in front of all of you, both nearby and far away, but particularly at Leigh Sports Village and Old Trafford.

It's hard to believe that I won't be performing for you all next season, and I'm feeling sad as we bid farewell. But I want to express my sincere gratitude. Thank you for the amazing support you have shown me throughout the years, through the good times and the bad. I appreciate everything.
