Bin those books, your children will thank you
Is it ever OK to burn books? I mean, apart from when they are subversive, degenerate or blasphemous and written by Jews, communists or Salman Rushdie. Which is obviously fine. I’m talking about burning books just to get rid of them.
Because I’ve got a massive surplus of utterly useless ones that I have to dispense with ahead of some light repurposing work we’re having done on the house that will lose us a couple of wallfuls of shelves. And before you say, “give them to charity!” I assure you, charity does not want these. Charity wants hardback biographies and recent fiction in decent nick. And those I have always kept in two columns of shelves either side of the front room fireplace, to impress
