Martin Mull, who was most famous for his appearances in Arrested Development, Roseanne, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch, passed away due to an undisclosed illness, as confirmed by his family.

The actor known for his work in comedy, who was 80 years old and had been in the industry for many years, died on Thursday (27 June) according to his daughter.

It is known that Mull has been struggling with a mysterious illness for a long time. His daughter, Maggie, announced this news on social media on Saturday (29 June).

In an Instagram post, Maggie expressed her sadness at the passing of her father at home on June 27th, after bravely battling a prolonged illness.

"He was famous for being extremely skilled in all types of artistic pursuits ... He had a great sense of humor and was always able to make people laugh."

She also mentioned that her father will be greatly missed by everyone, including a lot of dogs.

Mull was cast as Colonel Mustard in the 1985 dark comedy film Clue, which was based on the popular board game of the same name. Fans of 1990s television may also remember him from his role in Roseanne, where he played the main character's boss and closest friend, Leon Carp.

The celebrity also had a role on the well-received show Arrested Development on Fox. They portrayed the character Gene Parmesan, a private detective, alongside other talented actors like Jessica Walter, Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, and Michael Cera.

Mull was recognized for his role on Veep with an Emmy Award nomination in 2016. Throughout his extensive career, he made numerous guest appearances on popular television shows such as The Simpsons, Family Guy, Two and a Half Men, and others.

The funny person started off as a music writer and performed before Frank Zappa and Bruce Springsteen at various concerts in the early 1970s. Mull also focused on visual arts and completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1965 at the Rhode Island School of Design.

Mull shared with the AV Club in 2013 that most painters he knows work other jobs to support themselves. Some teach art at a college or work as a cab driver. Mull consider himself lucky to have a day job that is exceptional, enjoyable, and allows him to buy plenty of paint.

Mull's friends and coworkers have been posting heartfelt messages on social media to remember the actor after his death.

"Martin was absolutely amazing," the director of Bridesmaids, Paul Feig, tweeted. "He was extremely humorous, incredibly skilled, and just an all-around fantastic person. I had the privilege of working with him on The Jackie Thomas Show and every moment with him was truly special."

Sabrina the Teenage Witch star, Melissa Joan Hart, said: "May he rest in peace, my dear friend. The amazing #MartinMull (who played Principal Kraft) has passed away and gone to his eternal rest."

I have great memories of working with him and admiring his impressive body of work. Before his role in #SabrinaTheTeenageWitch, I knew him from projects like #Roseanne and #MrMom.

"He was a creative individual who enjoyed expressing himself through painting and crafting, a talented musician, and a kind-hearted person who I am grateful to have known. While his presence will be dearly missed, his contributions have left a positive impact on the world," she expressed. "I offer my heartfelt condolences to his loved ones and friends during this difficult time."

Jennifer Tilly, who acted with Mull in the 1988 film Rented Lips, expressed her sadness at hearing about the death of Martin Mull. Tilly mentioned that she had worked with Mull years ago on the movie Rented Lips, which he wrote and appeared in.

"He was very funny, charming, and generous. As a new actress, it was a great experience for me to collaborate with such a talented actor."

Mull is still living with his daughter Maggie and his wife, Wendy Haas, who is a composer. They got married in 1982.
