Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Martin McDonagh made a rare public appearance at the BAFTA Awards at The Royal Festival Hall in London on Sunday.

The actress, 37, showed her support for her director beau, 52, as his film The Banshees of Inisherin won big at the 76th EE British Academy Film Awards.

The acclaimed comedy-drama took home an impressive five gongs at the ceremony, including Best British Film and Best Supporting Actor and Actress.

Writer Martin also picked up the award for Best Screenplay for a Motion Picture and looked proud as he later posed with his BAFTA.

Showing her support for her partner, Phoebe cut a glamorous figure in an elegant black gown with sheer sleeves for the occasion.

Loved-up: The actress, 37, showed her support for her director beau, 52, as his film The Banshees of Inisherin won big at the 76th EE British Academy Film Awards

She let her all-black outfit do all the talking as she accessorised her ensemble with glitzy silver earrings.

The Fleabag star kept her essentials in a round black clutch bag and styled her brunette locks in a curled bob.

She accentuated her natural beauty with a slick of mascara and a touch of pink lipstick and appeared in jovial spirits on the red carpet.

Phoebe and Martin appeared to be as loved-up as ever as they walked arm-in-arm while arriving at the event, ahead of Martin's impressive wins.

Martin cut a suave figure in black suit trousers and a smart blazer, which he paired with a matching black shirt and a dark tie.

He completed his look with a pair of patent suit shoes and styled his silver locks in a natural buzz-cut for the star-studded ceremony.

Phoebe and Martin have carved out a reputation as a Hollywood power couple and have both risen to critical acclaim during their careers.

Ahead of Martin's film The Banshees of Inisherin picking up five BAFTAs on Sunday, they already held unprecedented collection of 16 major awards between them.

The darkly comic movie - which is set in rural Ireland and stars Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson - has already landed three Golden Globes and the couple, both dressed in black, appeared alongside each other at the awards ceremony in Los Angeles last month.

As well as picking up the Best Film and Best Supporting Actor and Actress gongs, the film also earned a nomination for Best Film while Martin was put up for Best Director - but lost out to All Quiet On The Western Front in both categories.

Phoebe famously posed with a margarita in one hand and a cigarette in the other as she reclined on a sun lounger surrounded by accolades in 2019.

She was hailed Queen of the Emmys after landing three honours - lead actress in a comedy series, writing for a comedy series and outstanding comedy series - scooping all of them for her work on series two of BBC sitcom Fleabag.

The Killing Eve creator and writer has since gone on to take Hollywood by storm - working on the screenplay of the James Bond film No Time to Die and starring alongside Harrison Ford in the upcoming fifth instalment of the Indiana Jones film series.

Yet away from the spotlight it seems the couple, who live quietly in London, are determined to remain as low key as possible.

Phoebe doesn’t have an online presence and once told how she shied away from social media as she 'would feel pressure to be funny the whole time’.

Martin is on Instagram but he hasn’t apparently posted anything on it for more than four years. He follows just 17 people including actor Woody Harrelson and legendary director Martin Scorsese.

In one interview with BBC Radio 4’s Woman's Hour, Phoebe told how she helped deal with her fame by being as uninteresting as possible.

She insisted that her work is just ‘like any other job’ and that she wants to be known for that, rather than her personality.

Phoebe said: ‘I think when people realise you are as boring as the rest of us they kind of lose interest.

‘I have always had an instinct about that. Keep what’s really precious to you as close to you as you can and try and make the work more interesting than your life to people.’

The biggest night in British film returned on Sunday evening with actor Richard E. Grant taking the helm to present the 76th EE British Academy Film Awards.

Held at the Royal Festival Hall, Richard, 65, was joined by Alison Hammond to host the star-studded ceremony, while film critic Ali Plum was on the red carpet with Vick Hope.

Austin Butler was awarded Best Actor at the awards, beating out favourite Colin Farrell in a shock upset.

The actor fought back tears as he paid tribute to the Presley family while accepting the honour, after portraying the late King Of Rock in the Baz Lurhmann biopic.

Thanking all of the crew and team he worked with on the film, Austin admitted he was 'just trying to take it all in,' as he fought back tears while accepting the honour.

'This means the world to me,' Butler told the ceremony, still using the Elvis drawl that he learned for Baz Luhrmann's movie.

He also paid tribute to the Presley family who offered insight into Elvis' life for the biopic, adding he 'hopes he made them proud.'

Cate Blanchett was also awarded Best Leading Actress for her performance in the biopic Tar, the film's only big win of the night.

Tearfully, she accepted the gong as she thanked her mother and director Todd Field, adding that Blanchett also said that 2022 had been an 'extraordinary year for women'.

She added that it had broken down that women's experience is not 'monolithic', and that her role as Lydia Tar 'was a dangerous and career-ending potential undertaking'.

Netflix's German war epic All Quiet On The Western Front was the big winner of the night with a total of seven gongs, including Best Film, while The Banshees of Inisherin was close behind with five, including Best British Film and Best Supporting Actor and Actress respectively.

The film, which is based on the 1929 novel of the same name by Erich Maria Remarque, equals Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (2001) as the film which is not spoken in the English language with the most nominations in BAFTA’s history.

Winners! The acclaimed comedy-drama took home an impressive five gongs at the ceremony, including Best British Film and Best Supporting Actor and Actress

Directed by Edward Berger, it stars Felix Kammerer, Albrecht Schuch, Daniel Brühl, Sebastian Hülk, Aaron Hilmer, Edin Hasanovic and Devid Striesow.

During his opening monologue, Richard referenced Will Smith's infamous slap at last year's Oscars, telling audiences that 'on my watch no one gets slapped tonight'.

Smith stormed onto the stage during the 94th annual Academy Awards in March and slapped presenter Chris Rock after the comedian made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.

The actor, who went on to win the coveted best actor Oscar moments later, was later banned from all Academy events for the next 10 years and resigned from the organisation.

Speaking at the Baftas, Grant said that the only slaps being received on Sunday would be 'on the back'.

'What a great year to be hosting the Baftas,' he said.

'In 2022, movie audiences were well and truly back and there has never been a better time to go to the cinema until right now.'

He added: 'Well, not right now, I'm trying my best and nobody on my watch gets slapped tonight... except on the back.'

Acclaim: Martin's latest movie The Banshees of Inisherin has been nominated for nine Oscars and landed three Golden Globes - including two for him - last month

Success: Martin and Phoebe have amassed an impressive 16 major awards during their careers, not including awards Martin has won for theatre productions

As the ceremony got underway, Carey Mulligan was incorrectly announced as the winner of the Supporting Actress award after a translation gaffe while deaf actor Troy Kotsur was presenting.

Oscar-winner Kotsur was delivering the announcement by sign language before a miscommunication resulted in Mulligan's name being called for her performance in She Said.

The announcer quickly corrected the call and announced The Banshees Of Inisherin star Kerry Condon as the winner.

Barry Keoghan won Supporting Actor for The Banshees Of Inisherin, and the 30-year-old Irish actor said he 'should have planned this, really' before thanking his co-stars and Ireland.
