Martin Lewis sends 'urgent' Tesco Clubcard alert as 21 million could lose points
Over 33% of UK households have been advised to confirm if they have any unredeemed Tesco Clubcard vouchers as several million pounds worth of complimentary cash is going to expire today at midnight (May 31st). The founder of MoneySavingExpert, Martin Lewis, cautioned his readers in his weekly email to act immediately and check whether they have any outstanding vouchers, as time is running out for claiming them.
About 21 million people are members of Tesco's Clubcard program, where they collect points by shopping at the store. These points can be exchanged for vouchers to get discounts on household and grocery items. If you combine these vouchers, you can save a lot of money on your grocery bill. Therefore, it is advisable to check if you have any unused vouchers that may expire soon.
The big grocery store chain predicts that a total of £17 million in vouchers will expire by midnight, but a lot of customers may not be aware that they have any. To confirm, you can easily review all your vouchers, including those that have gone missing in your sofa, via the Tesco Clubcard application or website.

These vouchers can be used within two years. It's possible that you forgot about it, but time is running out. You can either use it now or try to prolong the expiry date. MoneySavingExpert suggested that you could extend the expiry date for another two years if you have Clubcard vouchers that are about to expire but you are not yet ready to use them.
Legally speaking, according to the terms and conditions of the Clubcard membership, Tesco has the ability to decline an order for a Reward Partner should they determine you are attempting to manipulate the system by utilizing vouchers solely to prolong their expiration date. However, we recently experimented with this tactic at the MSE headquarters and found that it was successful without issue.
In order to prolong these coupons:
Use a portion of your voucher that is worth less, and receive back the remaining points that you can convert into a new voucher.
One option is to make a contribution to a charity that is collaborating with the company. For instance, if you donate £1 from a £10 voucher to a charity, you will earn 900 points that will be credited to your account. Since you intend to save both time and money, it may not be advisable to use £1 vouchers for this purpose.
After accumulating points, you have two options for using them: exchanging them for vouchers manually or letting them be converted on your next statement. The vouchers obtained through either method will remain valid for two years from their issuance date.
Alternatively, you have the option to transform your Clubcard vouchers into a fresh voucher that can be utilized with any of the Rewards partners affiliated with Tesco. This option prolongs the validity of your voucher for an additional six months.
