Manchester United were made fun of by their supporters after sharing a strange video from their initial pre-season match against Rosenborg on Monday night.

Erik ten Hag began his third season as United manager by traveling to Norway to play at Lerkendal Stadion in preparation for the Premier League.

Marcus Rashford, Mason Mount, and Casemiro all began the match after coming back to practice before their teammates who recently finished their international games.

United will briefly stop in Manchester before heading to Scotland to play Rangers in a friendly match on Saturday. Afterwards, they will continue on to the United States.

Rashford was one of the most well-known players to come back for the beginning of a tough pre-season as he looks to regain his top form after struggling during the previous season.

Marcus Rashford played in Manchester United's opening pre-season match on Monday night.

The player from United is trying to regain his top form following a disappointing season.

Rashford only scored eight goals for United last season, which led to him not being chosen for England's European Championship team. United supporters were disappointed by one particular play during Monday's match.

The official X account of the club shared a brief video of Rashford skillfully bringing down a ball with his chest and evading an opponent, only to be quickly tackled and lose possession, resulting in a throw-in.

United posted: 'Great job, @marcusrashford' with a happy emoji, but fans were not impressed by the performance from the 26-year-old.

In response to the video, a critic posted on Twitter: 'He managed to dribble past one player but then lost possession of the ball. The standards at the football club have never been this low before. It's disheartening to witness.'

Rashford was taken down in the first part of the game while trying to move the ball down the side.

'What did he accomplish? That's a terrible outcome for a player at his level,' another comment stated.

Another person who supports this cause said: "Posting this is only going to attract negativity. You should remove it."

Rashford was taken off during halftime of the game, which is common during pre-season matches as Ten Hag wants to switch up his lineup in order to improve the fitness of all players.

The player who came up through the Old Trafford academy has been unsure about his future at the club because European teams are interested in him. However, he still has four years left on his contract, which ends in 2028.
