Marc Guiu on his strengths, hopes for the future and why he joined Chelsea

As a child in Barcelona, Marc Guiu would often mention his ambition of someday playing in the Premier League. Now, that dream is closer than ever as he has officially signed a contract with Chelsea for the long term.

The young adult, who spent over ten years at Barcelona, has signed a five-year deal with the Blues, with the chance to extend for another year.

The young player from Spain has already scored in top-tier football leagues like La Liga and the Champions League for Barcelona. Now, he has set his sights on achieving the same in the blue jersey of Chelsea in the upcoming years.

Talking from Cobham last week, with assistance from a translator, Guiu expressed his happiness about joining Chelsea. He couldn't fall asleep the night before the journey because he was so thrilled.

Since I was young, I always dreamed of playing in the Premier League and achieving success in England. Now, I have the chance to join Chelsea and I am dedicated to giving my all to succeed for the team.

My main focus is to adjust to my new environment, which I believe won't be difficult. Ultimately, my goal is to achieve success in the Champions League and the Premier League with Chelsea.

Personally, I aim to assist the team as best as possible by scoring numerous goals, ultimately striving to become the top center forward globally.

In the previous year, one of Guiu's ex-coaches at Barcelona, Ivan Carrasco, called the young player a 'true striker, a traditional number nine' and mentioned his strength, ability to score in the air, speed, and precise shooting.

Carrasco praised Guiu for his intense pressing and commended his strong work ethic and commitment.

Most Blues supporters may not have watched Guiu in action before, so what do you think are his key abilities?

Guiu stated that he believes his strong suit is scoring goals, but he also mentioned that he is a modest and generous person. He enjoys putting in effort for his teammates and has always been this way. He has no plans to change his mindset in the future.

I enjoy practicing to get better every day. I excel at dribbling, maintaining possession, creating space, and, of course, scoring goals.

Guiu is now officially a part of Chelsea's team, making him their fourth new addition this summer. The club has also brought on board seasoned defender Tosin Adarabioyo, promising young Brazilian player Estevao Willian, and dynamic attacking midfielder Omari Kellyman.

The Blues have one of the most youthful teams in the Premier League, but it is filled with top-tier talent from around the globe.

Guiu explained that he chose to join Chelsea because he believes in the football and sports opportunities the club has to offer, as well as the trust that the staff have in him.

The team has an intriguing strategy in place, filled with youthful and thrilling players. I believe we have the potential to achieve remarkable success.

He stated: ‘I believe the team is full of skilled players, all of whom are young, very talented, and have a great deal to contribute.’

This summer, there was also the addition of a new head coach, Enzo Maresca.

The 44-year-old had a successful time as a player, winning the UEFA Cup two times, the UEFA Super Cup and Copa del Rey while playing for Sevilla in Spain. He also won the Serie A and Serie B titles in Italy.

Maresca has had a great beginning as a manager, leading Leicester City to move up to the Premier League in his first season as the boss.

When questioned about speaking to Maresca since becoming a member of the Blues, Guiu responded: "Absolutely, I've had a chance to have a conversation with him, and I am thankful for his time and discussion with me."

I believe he is an excellent manager who did a great job at Leicester by successfully getting the team into the Premier League.

I believe we will perform excellently on the field with him as our coach, and we have the potential to achieve many victories and receive numerous awards.
